Prime Orintation Process and PSD

Hey All,

Let me start off by saying Prime Inc. is the way to go!! First and foremost this is how the process goes (how it went for my class):

You apply online for Prime Inc. and a recruiter gives you a call to start the process. This part I think is the most important stage (since your still home). Make sure you disclose everything from your background, employment, unemployment, and medical history. If you think you can get away with not disclosing something, your setting yourself up for failure already (you will be sent back home immediately). Make sure all of your employment history, medical history and background was processed by your recruiter before you leave to Springfield, Mo to start orientation. If your a resident alien make sure you bring your resident card and a valid passport.

The next 4 days will go pretty fast, this includes: verifying your employment history, background (disclose juvenile record to adulthood and sealed or expunged cases), DMV record, and citizen or resident alien status.

Also you will be drug tested for everything and a full medical evaluation (disclose all medications taking, medical history, any workman's comp. case(s), if applicable military medical history). If your deemed to be a candidate for sleep apnea. You must purchase a machine (cost around $600-700, you will be advised where to purchase one at Prime) for them to continue the process.

After all of this information was processed you will be sent to the DMV to test for your CDL permit (I highly encourage you to take care of this before coming to Prime) or transfer your current permit to Missouri CDL permit. If you cannot pass your CDL permit test by Friday of the first week you will be sent home. Also don't forget to get tanker endorsement.

After that's been finished you will have to finish some computerized orientation stuff and truck simulator. Remember while your at Prime you are not an employee but an intern until you obtain your CDL License.

After your first week is up, you will be assigned an instructor. You will be on the road for at least 2 - 4 weeks, depending on how fast you learn. During the over the road training, you will learn how to shift up and down properly, loading and unloading as well as backing. Once you and your trainer feels your ready for your pre-trip, skills, and road trip test, they will schedule a date with the DMV examiner.

Now the big day is here. You MUST pass all three stages of the test, otherwise if you fail Prime will send you home. Remember Prime will not offer you employment, if you do not have your CDL.

I hope this shines some light on the process. If you all have any questions feel free to ask.

DMV CDL Permit Testing

I have to take my hat off for this site and the creator. I am in the process of PRIME INC., and will be shipping out begining of next month to start my new career and adventure. The whole trucking thing, mechanics and language appeared very foreign to me. However, this site help me learn and understand the entire concept. I used the online training program which is provided at no cost, and passed my CDL permit exams and endorsements without any problems. If I had not used this system, I'm pretty sure it would of been very difficult to understand and learn everything at once.

My suggestion to any person who is "green" or new to this field and will be joining a company sponsored training program. Study, study, and study some more. Take your CDL permit test at your state DMV before shipping out. Because you will have A LOT to learn and understand everyday. When having your CDL permit in hand already, it will take A LOT of stress off of you back, and you can really enjoy learning your new career.
