Prime school...

Day 1: I choice to take a plane into Kansas City missouri. First off let me tell you if you can find a ticket at a decent price like I did do it.

Got to Springfield Missouri on sunday afternoon. The shuttle from the hotel was short but only could seat like 8 of us and baggage. Unorganized at that. Got to the hotel. The folks in the lobby unprofessional. Wanted my own room since I wanted to sleep and study. Walked to Wal mart as we were told that there might be a box lunch/ dinner available for us after 4pm. Got a fee item that I could snack on during the week fridge in room was wonderful. No.microwave. drivers lounge has one though.

Day 2: Monday morning 83 people were pulled into a classroom and all handed dot physical paperwork. Oh and the day before you were handed a packet that you need to fill out before Monday no is ands or butts. After filling out your dot packets you stood in line for drug or an interview. Either way your in line all day. Heads up if your going Do Not take any medications or disclose them if your in any kind of med for weight , sleep, depression. STOP TAKING THE 30 DAYS PRIOR AND GET A NOTE FROM YOUR DR OR DO NOT DISCLOSE. During your DOT physical remember that not once do you see the Dr only a PA that dictates your sleep study or not. The process of that was a joke the MA measured my neck said it was one size. It was measured again by another nurse and another size.

Day 3: At this point you've had no classroom training at all. Be advised the first week is all paperwork and going through the moitions. I sat around waiting on the DOT Dr for most of the week. I found out that I needed a release of medication from my dr which I got ASAP for them on Wednesday. Paseed all my permit tests and continued to wait. Went to get my medical card and was told to go see the nurse. The nurse told me that I needed to pack and go home. Or call my dr for a release of medication. Again this is an MA not a nurse. I called my Dr again and he's sent it again and then 3 more times on Thursday. This was not good enough I was told to go home again. Made arrangements since my recruiter was unavailable to help me out. After a nice chuck of change to get back home on my own. I get a call from the head of recruiting telling me not to go anywhere my dr personally just called and I was good.

Day : 4 So I get up go to roll call after breakfast. I'm still waiting. I wait til 10 am when I get a call telling me I'm sorry but you need to go home but you can come back after 30 dsys. They bought my bus ticket home. Luckly I was able to refund my tickets cuz after being there for a week and waiting there was still no money. So I sit around all day cuz my bus is not leaving til sat morning at 6 am.

I will tell you that Prime is a good company I've meet some amazing drivers and trainers for Prime. Their outside DOT Dr is not up to par. The lack of knowledge of drug testing is also unbelievable. When you take a urine sample there are laws that must be followed and there are HI PA laws also.

Like I said I passed all my permit test it's good for 90 days. I'll be returning since I was complete. But I will be getting my own DOT physical and a sleep test done if needed by my own dr who is a certified DOT dr too.

Keep up the amazing work that you do here a TTYL the training material is by far the best I've come across.

Central, Prime, or Stevens? ??

I will post everyday trust me. But this is a huge career change for me since ive been in the same environment since I was 13. I am almost 39 and im only really concerned bout my weight, yet I do not have sleep apnea or blood pressure issues at all.

With a good start on the High Road Traing and im passing every test with 93% or higher I think my only concern is remembering that this is new to me and a great new adventure. Patience is a vuture and ive been told I have tons. So glad to hear from truckers that understand where im going and also the road ahead of me.

Question for anyone???

Was told to wait and het my permit at Prime sine I was told by DMV I can mot get mynpermit without my DOT physical. Any truth to this I am in WA state.

Looking into cdl school

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I have done my pros and cons. I have come to the decision that Prime is for me. I have been going through the training stuff and boy is it ever helpful. I picked up my CDL book bout 3 weeks ago from DMV and its much harder to study from that book then from this site.

Im looking at Prime and Stevens. I am a female I really don't care about my trainer being a male or female as long as they train me. Im looking for an information on both schools. I would be leaving on May 3rd which is roght around the corner. I live in WA and was told by both they would get me my permit there since WA wants to do a dot physical here. Any info or help would be great.
