Cdl training new York

Does anyone kno a company sponsored cdl program in new York and how do I go about applying?

None that I am aware of. But, I'm currently going through training at Sage in Rome, ny. They're really great. They can help you find funding. They do things a little different than most of the other Sage schools, but their results speak for themselves! They have one of the highest success rates of all of the Sage schools in the country, and the hold the record for the most consecutive students passing their road test!

Check them out. It's worth a look!

P.S. Where in CNY are you located?

Melton!

Best of luck to you, Kody! I'm just about done with the classroom portion of my CDL training. Up next is the driving portion.

Melton is at the top of my short list right now. Both of my instructors have said they are a great company to work for, and so far, everything the recruiter has told me sounds good! I have a few more questions to ask on Monday, but those are just formalities. The fact that they're family and driver health and safety oriented is a big plus for me.

Again, I wish you the best of luck going forward! And keep us up to date on your progress!

Darn near aced the permit test!

Thanks Guys! I have 3 more days of classroom, then 11 four hour practice drives one on one with the instructors. We've been keeping logbooks since the 2nd day of class, and we keep using them throughout or drives. As far as weight and balance goes.... Well, if the answer I gave to Daniel's question post is any indication..... You're right! I need more practice in that category!!!!!

But, seriously.... Thank you!

Melton is a fantastic company. You're in good hands! Good luck and keep us posted! good-luck.gif

What Daniel said! LOL That's great James! I'm looking at Melton, too. I finish up the classroom portion of my training on Wednesday and start my practice drives the following week. I just hope it won't take too long for them to get me scheduled for my road test. :-/

Darn near aced the permit test!

Just another example of what a great resource this site and the High Road Training Program are!! I took my permit test this morning; general knowledge - 94, Air brakes - 92 (would have been a 94, but I changed 1 answer, I had it right the 1st time) and combination vehicles - 100!!!!

dancing-banana.gifdancing.gifdancing-banana.gifdancing.gifdancing-banana.gif

For the 1st time in my life, I took those tests without any nerves, or apprehension. I was a little nervous going in. But, when I sat down and started reading over the questions, I realized "Hey, wait! I know this! That was on the high road test!"

So, again and again and again! Thank you, Brett and everyone for your help and support! I couldn't have done it without you!!!!

Rookies, what would you do?

Fuel weighs 8 lbs. per gallon. Burn off 5 to 6 gallons of fuel, make a note of where that is on your fuel gauge and keep it under that amount. Now, just how long it takes to idle off 5 gallons of fuel? I don't know. But, the cost of 5-6 gallons of fuel has got to be less than an overweight fine, not to mention possible points on your CSA score.

Just my $.02

Way to go, Josh!!!!!!! Congrats!

I was just talking to the recruiter from Melton yesterday. Sounds like you like it there. You're going to have to post pictures when you go home with your truck! I know you're probably going to be pretty busy, but keep us up to date the best you can. I, for one am really interested!

And hopefully, I'll be joining you at Melton in the near future!

Keep up the good work!

Yeah so this happened today on the road......

Guy,

My instructor at school wanted me to thank you for posting this video! I showed it to him on a break from class, and he immediately called the other 3 guys in the class over and put it on the overhead screen. He was very impressed with your space management, Guy. And he saved it to his favorites list to show future classes. His assessment of how you reacted, was spot on with what you said:

Going by my actions I noticed her roughly at about 29.5 second mark. I started to move at the 30 second mark and it was done about the 34.5 second mark at the point of contact. So basically the entire encounter was 6 second long.

I bring this up because in that 6 seconds a million things were going on. They say while driving you are processing a few million pieces of data every second subconsciously and only the 15 to 20 most relevant items are brought to your attention as worth further investigation.

And this video proves once again that things happen so very fast out here on the road. That's why they preach speed and space management. I had my space cushion around me which is why I was about to change lanes. Though in my opinion I did everything right to try and avoid any accidents but the deciding factor was out of my hands so at that point I was left with only one option....try to limit the amount of damage or injuries that were about to be the out coming of someone else's bad decision.

Just one more reason why I love this site! Teaching from experience!

So, from my instructor, my classmates, and myself...

Thank you, Guy!
