Celadon /"Quality Drivers" Indianapolis, IN-STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is incredibly sad. The "free" food is a joke to the point people have to request funds to be sent from home and others are applying for food stamps here in the state of Indiana. Others have taken to selling their plasma. Crime is a common occurrence around here, probably given the make up of about half the students here and the lack of training going on. The director of the program threatens people all the time and is insulting. It is really hard for folks to learn anything when you might get to drive, but usually not. Of course, the student body for the most part is not the most stellar individuals. If you ask to leave, they threaten your license. Again, stay away from this place.

Celadon

I live in Illinois, and I am leaving for Celadon in 5 weeks. They said I will have a non resident CDL. She said I have 90 days to switch it to Ilinois. How will this happen? Seriously thinking of moving to Indiana

I urge you to find a better option. First, you will have to retake your CDL examine in the entirety being that you are from Illinois. Next, the training at Celadon is sub par. If you enjoy sitting around, doing nothing, Celadon is for you. If you want a CDL, look into other options. Don't be conned into their claim of free training. You get what you pay for you.

The training consists of maybe fifteen minutes or so a week practicing on the range. The claim they do not have enough instructors and the intelligent business decision would be hire more. Of course, that is not going to happen, since I think the company could very well just be using this as a tax write off. You might on occasion get another thirty minutes or so driving a truck on the road. Their training methods are suspect to put it nicely. This week they have only had one instructor for three ranges and the decision was made to let students, who really have never driven to run the ranges. That is a bit dangerous, especially when the trucks are about to jack knife, since the students do not know what they are doing. The director of the program will openly tell you if you pay him money, he will let you test out-which is pretty much bribery. I am compiling video of the major safety deficiencies and I will be sending them to the DOT.

First, I recommend to all to stay away from this one, unless you enjoy sitting around and doing absolutely nothing. You will Greyhound it to the school and get picked up. A majority of the students here have either been picked up from the dregs of society or county jail, I have yet to figure that one out. They will tell you that it will take three to five weeks and then make you sign a contract that states it will be three weeks, but that is complete crap. I have been up here five weeks and you hardly get any range time. Most of the students seem to be here for the word free, but you get what you pay for. The drunken insanity, drugs and other bs is a common feature around here on the evenings and the criminal elements seem to be around frequently. If you really do not want a cdl, but want to just come to Indianapolis, hang around, not really do much, get drunk and screw around, then by all means, contact Celadon and get signed up. If you want a cdl, this is not the place to be. I am looking into another program and I advise all to pass on Celadon.

Celadon

I start trucking school with Celadon July 28th. Excited, yet apprehensive as well. Can someone that has already been there give me some pointers

Yeah, be ready to sit around for a while.

Has anyone gone thru there cdl school ??

I am going through it right now. Honestly put, it seems these guys are throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. The prep for your permit test is pretty good and they do pay for everything. The downside though is, since they have way too many people here, it is hard to practice on the range and get drive time. It is very disorganized. If you stay in the hotel, they shuttle you out there, whenever the driver from the hotel is ready. His name is Rob and is very unprofessional. He was cursing everyone out the other day and said he wished Celadon would not use their hotel. A lot of the students here are straight out of the hood and act that way. Lots of clowning around and not taking this course serious. I live by I finish what I start, but I find myself at times regretting my choice to come here vs another school.
