Texas CDL pre-trip

So my boss wants me to quickly get my CDL to drive a class b wireline straight truck. I recently went through company training on how to drive a big truck and am ok but all I can do is try as far as the test! My question is that I heard somewhere that in Texas the pre-trip written test we took covered the actual pre-trip inspection for the road test. Has anyone gotten their CDL in Texas this year that can confirm or tell me this isn't true? Thanks!
