673.6 miles today

If I don't have a plan on where to shutdown, I start looking as soon as I see a 1 on the duty clock . ie 1:59 .... you should always be able to find something before the clock runs out, barring traffic jams...

How can i Start a career in Trucking at 47?

Ah... to be 47 again... smile.gif

There are far more drivers out here in our age bracket than 20 somethings, it seems... no worries... Just remember, life expectancy is very close to 100 in this modern age. We will be driving a very long time. Only DOT physicals will kick us out...

Best and worst cities for trucking traffic?

Atlanta - They don't understand mass transit. Everyone has a car and uses it daily. At least up in the NE, thousands of people use the trains. It seems a bit thinner to me up there.

Which Tranny Next?

A 13 speed would probably be the most common in a truck spec'd out for say owner operators. Some would have 18 speeds. I haven't heard a lot about Super 10's over the years. Not sure what's up with those.

Yea, I was thinking a 13 speed would be the most likely... thanks, Brett

Which Tranny Next?

So, I have been living with the Eaton - Fuller stock 10 speed through my entire journey so far. Which transmission am I likely to encounter next, as I graduate up through less speed governed vehicles? Super 10, 13 or 18?

I would like to get as familiar as possible with all of them, but focus on the most common.

grazie

Georgia Highway 26

I have always been a big history buff. Every time I see an old house I think, "if only that house could talk" . Driving up in the NE for the first time in my life, you see VERY old buildings. The homes and businesses are very close to the street, like you see in a 1700's period piece in the movies... You can tell we were born of Europe.

This is why driving at night is hard on me. I keep thinking of all the cool stuff I'm missing. !!

I have driven by the Indiana turbines at night also ! amazing to see... they are equally surreal during a hazy day, also ... It looks like a sci-fi movie ...

Just think of how many things we still have to see !!! I have never been west of the Rockies... but it's calling !
