Cooking in the cab.

Thank you .How to cook in the cab is also my concern. I will say , maybe we can make enough susi at home and then bring them to the cooler in the cab. I love America but I hate American fast food. smile.gif

If there is one thing ive heard 1000 times about trucking OTR its bring your own food. So i was wondering what id your favorite food item to bring , what is you meal that you like to make in your truck. And what cooking utensils/machine do you use to make it. I'll hanf up now and listen to your response.

Not a trucker yet but I got this one. They sell all kinds on 12 volt cooking supplies and I use some on my boat. The coffee maker is slow but works and there is a slow cooker like a crock pot that works well also. I have a small round grill that can free stand... it is stainless steel and takes a small propane bottle. . The screw in kind like for a camping stove. Camping stove will work I guess but the stainless you could secure outside the truck and won't rust. They are costly... about 200 bucks but last forever in in a salt water conditions so will hold up well on a truck. You need to get one at a marine supply store like west marine if you want one. I don't know how well you cook but I actually do all the cooking at home so I have an endless list of things to make at sea or on the road. There is a lunch box stove also. Just be mindful if it will COOK or just heat. Also some 12 volt coolers That can save you money while out there. Good thinking. If you don't cook you will spend 600 bucks on food a month easy eating fast food and at restaurants

Qz Z, Ni hao. You will do fine. Most of us are immigrants or direct descendents of immigrants - our parents or grandparents. Everything Jopa said is true. Well, not everything. Not all Californians speak perfect English and they definitely have their own accent. They just think they're perfect.

Thank you, Jopa.

You guys are so nice. I think that is why USA is the most attractive country in the world. Because of the people who live here are so friendly and so generous. Truckers and other hard working are always the fundation of this amazing country. Thank you. Love you!

Qz. Z:

That is a good attitude and it will help you overcome a lot of difficulty in communicating. The "smile" is universal and I hear the smile in your words. Just remember that you will meet all kinds of people out there and some will be patient and helpful and other will not. Ignore the ones who are not and move on to those who appreciate your attitude. Be patient with everyone and stay humble and you will quickly learn how to communicate with all parts of the country. It is rue many Americans have trouble understanding each other but the LAUGH and the SMILE are universal translators. In my experience, Chinese people have excellent language skills and they have been communicating all over the world for thousands of years . . . take heart and enjoy all the various dialects you will encounter . . . of course, we Californians don't have an accent like the rest of the Americans do . . . we speak purrfect English like God intended it to sound . . .

Qz. That is not a stupid question at all. First may I ask what is your native language? To pass the cdl exam you have to be able to read and write in english. Judging from your post you are certainly capable of that. In my experience people will slow down to communicate with someone. This is a big country with a lot of regional dialects so even an American from Seattle may have a hard time. Understanding someone from the south or even the northeast.

Thank you so much,Bart! You encourage me and I feel relieved. It is true America. I love you guys and this country!

At first ,I want to give my thanks to this website. I have read the book written by the founder. The book helps me a lot. Making me from knowing nothing to know a lot about the american truck industry. I want to be a driver of big rigs. But the thing is that , Does this driver career need a high requirement for language ability? I can read in Engish. But English listening is kind of poor(if people speak very fast, it is hard for me to get it). I want to ask if the communication with the dispacher is complicated or no ? I understand my question is kind of stupid. But if you got some opinions or advices, I will really appreciate !
