How is the weather where you are?

Sunny and 16° here in Maryland... Finally made it home after about 3 hours of crawling up and down slushy mountains...

Shouldn't the company supply these

At crst you don't have to have either of them... Its messed up even with high value loads we don't need them...

I had a Nintendo load a couple months ago and had to park for the night cuz Walmart wouldn't take us early and the only thing crst said was back up to a wall or pole or another truck lol... O well...

Driver confidence

Sounds about right... Pull throughs are tricky. The key is to make sure you have enough room to get your trailer lined up with your tractor.. If the back row is full I won't do it but if you can use the empty spots go right ahead and remember its like the fuel island gotta stay wide then turn into it to get the trailer lined up...

Google maps works really good before you get close to where your going.... Don't wait till its too late....

Your doing great keep up the good work and go slow so you don't hit anything...

Can experienced drivers negotiate vacation time?

I would be fine and would actually understand that if I do take 1 or 2 months off during the slow times that my truck would be given to someone else. That's not really a problem for me. Yes, I still need to prove myself, but just wanted to know if it is possible. My point was that having only a week of paid time off per year is pretty lousy. I would expect treatment like that in China or Russia not the US. What's the point of working so hard if we can't enjoy it?

Anyways, it is what it is, I guess I value my free time more.

Most of the warehouse jobs I had was like that... 1 week for 2 to 3 years...I don't know where you are at but pretty standard on the east coast for warehouses..

Can experienced drivers negotiate vacation time?

I'm going into week 2 of my CDL training. I'll be done by the end of the month. In researching different companies, I like much of what I see about Werner. Only 1 thing I don't like: according to the recruiter vacation doesn't go up from 1 week to 2 weeks until year 5. Most other companies I've checked go up to 2 weeks after 2-3 years.

I understand that I'll have lots of options once I have a year under my belt, but I would still like to start for a company that at least has the potential for me to be there long-term. My question is this: if you are an experienced driver, can you negotiate vacation time? If not, I'll probably need to look elsewhere.

Thanks, Seldon

I really doubt you would get more vacation time if the policy says otherwise... But I'm sure you could ask for a couple more days off...

Day of reckoning

So I'm about 3 hours out from the orientation center heading down 80W. I have yet to see a single TMC truck on this route, and their main terminal is based right off of 80W. What gives...

I always try to avoid my terminals... Crst is in cedar rapids ia and not a whole lot of freight in that area... That's probably why you don't see them...

Swift or cr england for training

I talked to a guy that was doing OK at cr england as a rookie and we have a member on TT that didn't want to leave cr england after his contract.. Not sure his name but a search for cr england here on TT would find it... Don't base your decision off that small pay... As long as you can prove yourself and get those miles you'll make it anywhere...

I don't think facebook likes you guys... I have only seen a TT facebook posts a small handfull of times and I use the "recent" posts option and at least once a day read through every single one that shows up till I reach the last one I saw the previous time I looked.

Phox go to the TT Facebook page and like comment or share a few times... Facebook limits who sees what and who dont... I to am a facebook page owner with over 15000 likes and maybe only a 1/3 sees what I post...

You have to be active with the like pages or you loose them from your news feed..

double-quotes-end.png

That's just stupid of facebook to do that. I am not one to like or share posts of anyone very often... not even my own family or friends. It's just not my thing, so to make it harder for someone to see stuff because of that and then limit the views the page owners get... yeah that's pretty lame.

Facebook wants the page owner to pay to boost their post to get more views..

I think I'm allergic to snow.

Okay so every time I enter a snow storm I start sneezing terribly. Think I can get a doctors note that Brian needs to be only running in the lower half of the U.S. These runs from N.Y. To Oregon and Washington are really reaking havoc on my sinuses.

Let me know how that plays out.. I'll hit up my Dr as well lol
