Roehl training: phase 3 (solo)

I’m going to take a shot in the dark here.

Roehl doesn’t have a great deal of activity in the NE region. They have some dedicated freight heading into the northeast and some paper that comes out of Maine.

When I ran for the Kraft fleet a few time I dead head 400 miles back to Winchester VA for my next load OR I’d pick up a brokered load.

Roehl could have seen this as an opportunity to reduce the driver count in the NE and Andrey provided the means unfortunately.

There some other trucking companies that have been advertising heavy for drivers. Pottles out of Maine. Cowan has the contract for the BJs in Uxbridge Ma. And are advertising for OTR.

Andrey...just remember...you didn’t have an accident. You had an incident in a parking lot that was deemed preventable. Most good companies will discern the difference. Also, next time you are in that situation, complete the back before stopping.

Good luck!

Roehl's qualification day

Decided to go with Roehl. Got my DOT health card and CDL permit. Not sure if my recruiter understands past a certain point. It was only a 6th month card due to BMI. Recruiter says there is no new dot health exam or physical exam during the whole process. Safety will contact me close to the expiration to make sure I'm ready. Is that correct? anyone know or have experience with Roehl?

Larry...Roehl typically sends your to their preferred doctor for the physical. Bus this what happened here.

They use a third person association to review physicals and advise their safety department. If this is what was done then you should be all set.

As others have said, they are probably giving you the 6 months for the sleep study. I have mild sleep apnea and adjusted quickly to the machine. I now actually miss it when I skip a night of use.

Good luck. I got my license through Roehl in 2014. Great people and a great company.

FINALLY GOING. TOOK THE STEP.

It's been a long time. I'm leaving the 15th for CFI. Everything is set. The High Road Training was excellent. I have permit and physical. Thank you Brett and all the experienced drivers for the articles.

Isn’t one of their finishers on here...lol. A guy named Big Scott..aka...CFIs biggest fan.

Good luck in your new step. I got my CDL A in 2014 and the only regret is not doing it sooner.

Should I keep my CDL?

The only thing you really need to do is take a medical exam every year or two. So , yes, I’d keep it.

You may find something comes your way in the near future. These are money makers and you should do anything you can to keep it as a class A CDL license.

Good luck Zach! Keep the license current.

Any Federal Law for Right on Red?

I’ve noticed there are a few right hand turn lanes that are marked separately with yield signs. In other words, if you were go straight through the light it’s a red light with stop signs. However, if you are turning right, there is a yield sign. Usually it is a fully committed turning lane, with an island separating it from other lanes....if this makes sense.

I believe in this case it is legal to go ahead and “yield” into traffic.

Otherwise, I agree with others. If it’s a red light,!with a stop sign...there is no yielding...only stopping when making a right hand turn.

I really really really hate team driving

Self induced drama. Pretty sure any co-driver you get won’t be good enough.

There’s always something to complain about in trucking. The successful drivers learn to focus on the big picture and let the little stuff roll.

If I were you I’d focus more on yourself, than judging others.

Good luck

Vaccine Eligibility for Truckers

I looked into this also. While we are listed as “essential” workers under the transportation category, we are not considered “high exposure” transportation workers. Therefor...we (you) wait.

NYS now says I qualify for the vaccine on 2/15/21 based in my age and two co-morbidities. They also say that there won’t be enough vaccine available to give everyone for a couple months.

Keep trucking Eugene!!

CDL School (Should I bother?)

Wait. If you won the case on the four charges, why are you on probation? Did your attorney make a deal?

My guess is that’s the deal breaker right there. No company will touch you until the probation is complete. Also, companies will go on a case by base basis. Assault and battery on a police officer is not a good reflection on yourself.

I would apply to

Apply For Paid CDL Training

And see what you get back

Do not spend money to get your cdl...it’s likely you are not eligible for hire to a lot of companies

Good luck

Need Advice on Companies, and CDL Training

If I were you, I would be looking at changing careers, too. I read your bio, and see you're in the mining industry. This new administration is most likely to put that part of the economy to bed very soon.

I’m afraid the new administration is going to put a lot of industry to bed, not just mining.
