Permit test Thursday

Did good until combinations part. Missed 2 questions and started second guessing. And failed. Some of the questions were asked more situational and through me off. Wasn't ready for that. So I can retake combination and air brakes tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have a more positive outcome.

Permit test Thursday

Going in for my permit test on Thursday. Craming everything in and going through air brakes and combinations. Also the Texas motor vehicle part.

I feel like I'm doing good but whenever I thought this in school I didn't do so good. Hopefully all will go well.

Following distance

The length of your vehicle plus 1 at speeds over 40? 53 foot trailer plus 15 foot tractor. 8 seconds would be my guess.

To determine this you count the seconds the vehicle in front as it passes a shadow or some type of land mark. The seconds it takes for you to cross the same land mark or shadow is your following distance

Cooking in truck

When your with your trainer, I probably will not need these items yet, right..

Does trainer show you the tricks to cooking in the truck, or are we as trainee, do we need to kind of fend for ourselves in the stops we make? I'm thinking it is like renting and apartment for the weeks I'm on the truck and you share the costs of food and other cooking things if it is possible. Sorry just asking questions.

Cooking in truck

I really have not noticed this: how and what do you cook in your truck?

Ex. Crock pot, one burner hot pad, George Forman.

Thank you Brett

Thanks for the welcome. BK, I am not having any trouble yet. The only thing which is something that I saw in another post was to review section 14 for Texas residents. So glad I saw that post.

RealDiehl I am going with Millis Training Institute for the training. Thought I would be able to continue with Millis after training but they said I live outside there zone so I will be doing the year agreement with Heartland Express. Super excited. Wanted to start in June but no openings then and June was the earliest opening.

I am retiring from teaching. 27 years.

Thank you Brett

Just wanted say thank you to Brett and others for making this website and forum. Learning a lot. I have been lurking around for a few years, and am now going start my trucking career in July. Been studying the old and new 2.0 version and it is so helpful. Thank you again.

Studying for my permit right now and a Texas resident, and just trying to pass first time and if yall have more helpful hints would love the advice.

Thanks again
