Difficulty with Prime trainer. Please advise.

Hope the #1 thing you can do is call Prime's safety department. I was in Springfield for a visit and met a couple of these guys wandering about they seemed pretty straight forward and both of them insured I could call if anything was bothering me while on the road as far as safety is concerned. I personally would make it a point to most definitely say something to this trainer very loudly and without mincing words when he doses off in the driver's seat as like many people on here have already made mention of it's your life as well as his and 100's of other people's at stake here. Like Daniel said either give him a call or a message or call Prime's safety team. As a former safety team member for a fortune 500 company I would hope that they bring quick resolution to your matter either way please keep us updated and good luck out there.

Starting with Prime Dec. 1st

Matt to answer your question as I start with Prime Monday morning I actually did kind of the same thing the original author did here. I applied online and then called the recruiting department directly after about 48 hours. Then it was like 3 days before I heard from them again and at that point my Recruiter Tiffany called me back and I had to give them a bit more information then it was probably another week before I heard anything at which point I received an email stating I had been approved I called Tiffany and played phone tag for a few days eventually hearing back from her about 4 days later and confirmed my start date. So all in all it took me right at 3 weeks.

Werner& Swift??? Weird...

Companies haul a trailer with a different name on it all the time. Schneider-Walmart. Prime-Henderson. Werner-ABF. It's nothing we need to concern ourselves with and definitely nothing that should impact our decision.

They give you the load, you take the trailer and deliver it and get paid. It's as easy as that. Heck, I've driven a pink truck with a Prime Floral trailer (has a giant flower in the center) and I didn't care. I get what I get, right?

Daniel on something like that I would seriously just have to laugh and remind myself it all pays the same.

After 47 years can I finally fulfill a lifetime dream?

Bryan,

I went through much of the same difficulty you are when I was applying. However, what I found useful was the post on this particular website that breaks down every company and what they expect as well as who they will and will not hire. As for your DMV record I would go ahead and disclose anything dating back 7-10 years that is a major offense. I had one recruiter tell me that it's better to state that you did x crime x years ago rather than have them pull the background up and find it. As far as hiring out of Florida that's not one I can answer as I live in Oklahoma currently maybe one of these guys has the answer.

However, as for company training vs school training I did ALOT of thought and debate and research on this matter and I myself finally settled on Company training. For me like you 6,000.00 was a bit of a stretch to afford up front or over a course of time. After looking into my options I finally decided that love or hate a job if it's going to allow me to follow a dream of mine in obtaining a cdl and seeing the country then I suppose a year or two years is not that bad of an amount of time to suffer. Sometimes the rewards will far outweigh the risks. What I advise you to do is again use this web site as well as other websites and read reviews of companies and training and just do what feels safer and more comforting to you.

Good luck and hope to see ya out there

Beginning My Transition

Good Afternoon,

I'm a small town country guy who grew up on a farm pulling boats, stock trailers, flat bed hay trailers etc. I've driven a couple box vans at 16 and 24 ft, but personally I'm a bit nervous about the transition from gooseneck trailers and bumper pulls into the full on rig. Is there any advice that anyone on here can give to me? Over the course of the last 9 months I've been restricted mostly to boats and the two box vans.
