And So It Begins

Airline pilots aren't under so much scrutiny. A camera watching me drive..... Sorry... Just a bit to Orwellian for me. I would have to draw the line on that also.

Life has changed and so has my CDL school

Hey Sandman:

Which campus are you going to attend? I was considering the one at Toccoa. Also what is the price of the course? I can't seem to find it online.

Thanks.

Automatic vs standard trans?

You will like the auto while sitting in Atlanta traffic at 5:15PM. Modern computer controlled autos are actually superior to manuals in terms of shifting and you have no chance of it coming out of gear when going down hill and ending up with a runaway on your hands. I grew up driving manuals... If I have to spend all day driving the auto is just one less thing I need to deal with. You should learn on manual though that way if you are ever faced with one you can handle it. Yes... I know how to speed shift or FLOAT gears as you now call it.

Guys. Seriously, is trucking worth it?

Not being the most knowledgeable guy here.. I would say you would be looking for local or LTL deliveries. From your description it doesn't sound like OTR is what you are looking for... 3 weeks out 2 or 3 days home.

Trucker pay has fallen when adjusted for inflation

Also, anyone wanting to get acquainted with Ayn Rand's philosophy might want to read The Fountainhead instead of Atlas Shrugged... Shorter, more readable, same basic ideas... just my opinion

Actually next on my list right after reading a sci-fi by James Blish called Cities in the Sky.

And JOPA... would love to sit down and discuss world events with you over a cup of coffee some day. Bet we would have a great conversation.

Pay and teams

Want to end your married life quickly? Simply add the financial stress of buying or leasing a truck to your already stressful team driving experience. Better keep the number of a good divorce lawyer on speed dial.

Wife and I want to be truckers.

Are you really certain you want to be cooped up in a tiny truck cab 24/7 with your significant other? Every time I tried being in business with mine the relationship ended. May sound all romantic and wonderful at first.... update us after about 6 months.
