Hurricane Irma

Yeah, I live in Manatee County and am planning on bugging out with my family today.

Driving on a teammates clock

When I was with my mentor some how I messed up and was using his clock. Don't remember now why or what I did, we noticed it after my shift. Had to call log people and after lectures and such they fixed it. Mentor caught all holy hell for it. Let's just say it was a big no no. Glad we got through it without getting caught.

Things like that happen sometimes with students. As long as it is accidental and you get it fixed it shouldn't have been a big deal. I had it happen with two different students. I just contacted my logs department and had it fixed.

Of course, I caught it pretty early both times and had it fixed right away.

Right turns without hitting curbs

It depends on the turn. Sometimes you just have to buttonhook it, turning out to the left a little to get your trailer heading in that direction before swinging out.

Any Werner flatbed trainers here?

They will generally but you a greyhound ticket, but you can get dropped off if you want. They will put you up in a hotel during orientation and while waiting for a trainer. They have a shuttle that will take you back and forth and to Wal-Mart and a few other places. Lithia is one of the terminals that has trainers coming through fairly often so you shouldn't have to wait too long.

I used to be a trainer for Werner, but not flatbed, picked up a large percentage of my students from Lithia Springs.

Top sleeper while team driving :/

I can tell you that at Werner sleeping in the top bunk while the truck is in motion is against company policy. I can also tell you that there are quite a few trainers that make their students do so anyway and that the students usually just do it.

Now, with that said, you should take Old School's advice. There are reasons it is against policy

Why don't we use flares?

As far as I know they are legal in every state. I can think of a few reasons most companies prefer triangles though.

Triangles are reusable.

Triangles can be used by everyone. Regardless of load type.

Triangles don't burn out.

And that's just of the top of my head

Time for a transition

Thanks for the well wishes. I will miss driving, but as Old School said, it's the right thing to do. I will probably maintain my cdl in case something comes up. Heck, I might even get my passenger endorsement in case my church needs someone to drive the bus.

Last Day of School, My Uphill Take-offs Still Suck

Don't worry about it too much, it's something that requires practice. I went to school in Florida so didn't have any hills to learn on until I was in trading at my company. Keep working on it. You'll get it, just don't let it frustrate you

We wish you the best man!

I hope your wife's condition will improve.

Are you able to complete your lease? Forgive me if I'm mistaken about you leasing a truck, but I was thinking I remembered you as one of our hard working lease operators in here.

Seriously, I hope things improve for both you and your wife.

It wasn't a lease, I was buying the truck, and no I couldn't finish buying it. There may be some difficulties in my future for that, but that's not as important as being there for my wife.
