Crossing to and from Canada

"I am currently a permanent resident- In about a month I plan on being both"

I hope you started a couple of years ago with your application for citizenship and your month quote is when your ceremony is being held.

I just finished mine and it took a good two years and some decent coin to get it done.

Get a fast card. Your company should submit the paper work well in advance so you just roll up and over the border.

It's very rare that they pull you aside for a bigger inspection, 28,814 trucks cross on average each day.

In winter we have a special Winter grade Diesel that won't gel up so easy, use it or pay a big big big bill when the deep freeze hits.

Don't worry about converting $ because they will take both US and CA up here.

Lots of truck stops all over the place simple because there is a lot of in the middle of nowhere places.

We can drive longer hours in CA.

FLOODS,Hurricanes?

Was fishing not trucking when we got stuck in the middle of a tornado on a lake of all places.

There was a wall of white coming across the lake although the day called for clear skies, something I have never seen before but the boat launch was in that direction so we tucked closer to shore and kept heading back until a large wave hits the front and comes over the bow so we know it's time to find shelter fast, dam fast.

We barely made the turn safely riding the crests of huge wave after huge wave back across to far side of a lake only because there was no shore we could leave the boat at without it getting torn apart. After a few crazy minutes we dock tie the boat and run for shelter first under a deck and then farther into the forest and just help on for dear life as what sounded like a train went by.

When it was finally over we went back to get out 16" bass boat which was sunk in 5ft of water right beside the dock. All our gear was floating away or already on bottom.

This was early spring so recovering the boat and gear was a crazy cold gotta do what you have to do day. And then came the long hike around the lake back to the truck in our undies.

Never forget that day.

Ripped off... NOT... in border town... a rookie, but nobody's fool

Learn one or two words of Spanish and throw it in there next time that happens and I'm sure they will be like ow dam.

I think that's very rude talking another language around people.

You don't need to worry about changing your US dollars to CA almost everywhere will take either. And your cards will work up here no problem.

There isn't the problem for parking like I hear people down south describe often and all the hi ways have pit stop places you can park up but with little to nothing around you in the way of stores etc.

And you can drive longer hours north of the border so you know.

TMC

You could ever so nicely state that there policy is in violation of a number of court ruling's and if you meet all the other qualifications and the only reason is your hair you could be in for a BIG pay day.

The law states that as long as your "neat and clean" a prospective employer discriminate prospective employees based on there hair style. That's the law straight up.
