Is this a company that he went thru their school to get his cdl ??? if so....hate to say it,but his options are severely limited....but if he doesn't owe them for schooling...he should be applying at ALL other companies...he will simply tell the other companies that where he is at appears to not be a good fit, since he wants to roll...... Keep us posted, we will help all we can...

We were owner operators...so I feel ya when it comes to paperwork.....I kept our paperwork broke down to the minimum.....deadhead miles, fuel, repairs, tolls, scales, work clothes...and days on the road. Also fuel taxes for each state, and the usual permits, insurance.....stuff like that. If you break those down to files...your tax adviser/accountant will be happy...

Almost all the companies run south.....so just go toTruck Driving Jobs and apply to all of them !!!! And when the letters or emails start rollin' in....then YOU choose who YOU want to drive for !!! Your weight will only be an issue for your DOT physical...you may have to take a sleep apnea test...... So step out there with your big girl panties on and start that adventure !!!!!

Sorry I'm slow...I do have a life...and alot of the ladies here are drivers and don't get online all the time. But...to answer your question: No firearms are allowed per FEDERAL LAW....and if that ever changes, trucking companies won't allow them because of the liability issue. That being said...you can carry a stun gun ( do you want someone that close?), pepper spray, ( a little better), a walking stick ( my personal favorite), a tire thumper, or even a can of 20 foot wasp spray....BUT its more about how you carry yourself....Walk like you own the truck stop, don't go in dark areas, NEVER let anyone talk you into going into areas that are not readily seen by others....and never get into a truck you don't know the driver...
