Alaska CDL holders

I’m trying to understand why there are so few companies that are willing to hire CDL holders that live in Alaska. If the industry needs drivers as bad they say why does it matter where someone lives?

About to hit the road

After being in truck driving school for 6 weeks and getting my CDL. After completing a 4 day orientation at Stevens Transport the day has come where I fly out to meet up with my trainer in El Paso TX. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm excited because I'm finally getting out there to learn about being an OTR driver and getting to see parts of this great country I haven't seen yet. At the same time I am nervous because I am meeting someone I don't know. I am sure he will train me to the best of his abilities and give me helpful tips on managing my truck so I can keep the wheels rolling.
