Things Are Bad, Running Out of Time

Sounds like you've been coached a lot in the past couple of days, and I'm not really someone to do that even if it could be done by forum posts. But I'm curious, what do you look at when you're backing? You mentioned jackknifing, and it seems that you should notice that it isn't going right before you get that far. Maybe you are going too fast like someone mentioned. Do you just let it idle when backing?

Someone Called The Police On Us

I don't think they'll put up a fence. It sounds to me like they don't have anything else to do. When a truck turns around it's probably the highlight of their week.

Galanz microwave/air fryer combo

Not familiar with it, but the manual says it need 2 inches on either side and 8 inches above for ventilation. Also wondering about the power. The manual says 1300W for microwave and 1450W for air fryer, but I don't know if it needs both of those at the same time, or if air frying just adds 150W, or what.

Bad experience or am I the problem?

Unfortunately I think a lot of companies have to take whoever they can get to train people. Some do it for the money, the extra help, or because it makes them feel important, but not everyone is good at it. It does sound like you had some bad luck, but it may have something to do with your personality as well. It could be that you're not hiding your feelings as well as you think you are or something like that.

In any case, good luck with the next trainer. If he yells at you, makes you feel stupid, or lectures you on things that he overhears, try not to take it personally.

CDL Air Brake test

I had never heard of "compounding the brakes" until I read your question, so this is based on a few minutes of googling it. But what I found is that in older equipment, you could cause damage by applying the service brakes when the parking brakes hadn't been released. But newer equipment has an "anti-compounding valve" which is supposed to avoid this problem. Also, even without that it seems like you would be OK as long as you didn't step hard on the brakes.

So, sorry to hear about that. How did the rest of the test go? Did he have you stop immediately then, or did you go through the rest of pre-trip?

Trucker, hauling USPS, discussing his ballot delivery experience.

Lol, I read it 3 times trying to make sense of it. Then I realized that it's actually text from a Reuters article from like a year ago, but some words have been changed, sort of like if you used google translate to translate it to a different language and back. Anyway, the bottom line is that I think Kristina's a spammer or something. I think they do this sometimes to try to make an account look legit.

Wide swing on a right hand turn.

We all know how it is, some people are going to be upset if they're delayed no matter what the reason. As for "letting them know they're number one", I've decided to tell myself that waving and smiling means the same thing. So I wave and smile while I'm thinking the other thing.

Senators propose legislation to promote women in the trucking industry

OK, so I guess what I was wondering is, what will this legislation be able to do? If there are good reasons for fewer women in trucking, maybe it’s just the way things are.

Interesting. What is stopping women from wanting to be truck drivers? Is it just that they're not comfortable because they are so few women already doing it? A job with one of the lowest percentage of women is mechanic, is it the same thing there? Or is it something about the job itself?
