Failed a Level II Inspection

Umm pretrip 101 check all lights, fluids, belts, connections (electrical&air), tires, wipers, glass and mirrors.

Now if u are running through Utah make sure and check your DOT bumper for loose bolts. Personal experience...

Giving back my truck

double-quotes-start.png

I just read my post I asked for advise but not on what.

Ok I wanted some advice on wether or not leaving the truck at the dealership and scooting onto bison and gettin on the road with them would constitute a truck abandonment claim by Jacobson

Any feed back would be much appreciated thank you

My suggestion hasn't changed except your discussion is now with Bison instead of Navajo. The HR personnel of most trucking companies understand that you will usually have to give some notice to your current employer before starting a new job.

And yes, unless I am missing something, I think it would be considered abandonment and likely posted to your DAC report. If you have one, check the driver handbook that Jacobson issued to you to see what constitutes abandonment.

Thnx forgot bout that booklet And yes I was speaking to Navajoe and Bison. But Navajoe wants me to fly out to Denver asap but did understand bout needing some time to get my current truck back to its owners/leasor

My Prime PSD experience

double-quotes-start.png

double-quotes-start.png

double-quotes-start.png

Some of their loads are misplanned. Example of this, at Newly Wed Foods, I have a pick on 5/19/2015. The shipper had me scheduled for the day after. Prime vehemently refused to accept responsibility for this mix-up and this lack of culpability ultimately lead to me terminating my contract with them.

double-quotes-end.png

double-quotes-end.png

First of all, how do you know it wasn't the shipper that put the wrong date in their books? What makes you so certain it was Prime's fault?

And second, you terminated a contract with a company because there was one miscommunication between Prime and a customer on one load? Well I hope you're prepared to terminate about 50 contracts a year because that stuff happens regularly in this industry.

double-quotes-start.png

double-quotes-start.png

Prime staff and drivers may be nice and all, but, the corporate part of Prime literally sees you as little more than a living breathing log book

double-quotes-end.png

double-quotes-end.png

And how do you view Prime the corporation? Is the success of the corporation the most important thing in your life? Would you give up your wife and children to help them be successful? I don't get this line of thinking. You're an owner operator who has made a business agreement with a corporation. What do you want them to do, plan your wedding for you? Baptize your children? Throw you a parade every time you come to town?

What is it they're supposed to be doing for you that they're not? Not that it matters I guess because you terminated the contract.

double-quotes-end.png

Like I said, this was my personal experience with Prime after they bought the company I was originally leased to. I was leased to Earl L. Henderson Trucking. Since Prime brokered the loads and dispatched, I was considered leased to Prime at that point. Great example of them pushing. I was in Cheyenne, WY early this year. Extremely cold, extremely windy and I'm hauling around 14,000 in the box. Winds easily 40+mph. I'm not going to move my truck. I know that at the very least, the trailer is going to be blown around like a piece of paper in those conditions. Told dispatch, they insisted that I get rolling to the 90 location. Worth mentioning I was on I-80E. Conditions were so bad that I couldn't, physically couldn't, put fuel in the reefer tank. The fuel line at the pump was frozen solid. I flatly told dispatch that I am not moving and that they needed to reschedule the drop. They threatened me with a service failure (my service record stood at 99.8% at the time.) It's my tractor and your freight. I understand you want your freight to move, but your load isn't worth my life if a gust of wind hits that light trailer and throws it off the road, dragging my tractor with it. Top that off with all of Prime's O/O being paid more per load, they run line haul percentage or by mile pay. 72% or $1/mi. Same as Henderson. Same load, same 90 location, Prime guy makes more. So, I have a special dislike of Prime. I won't lie about them, but I won't sugar coat the facts either.

Am I the only one who watched day after tomorrow diesel frozen at the pump hmmmm sounds rediculous to me. Did Patrick start another assumed name account on here??

Giving back my truck

Ok so I have been having equipment issues with Jacobson transport/ XPO LOGISTICS, ten year old unmantained trailers that even on their best day wouldn't pass a dot level one.

I been here 2 months now and since October 1st every scale I drive pass I get red dotted on my pre pass and I have too go into the weight station. Now since I got stopped in Utah for a level one and the 2016 Mack tractor was not passed due to an air leak in my leveling valve while I was pulling a 2016 dry Van 53" that was pointed for having a loose DOT bumper bolt I'm like freakin out!!!!

Is long-haul driving health a serious issue?

Also, regarding diesel fumes. Unless you have an exhaust leak and poorly maintained vehicle, you shouldn't be breathing them. Until the addition of DEF, diesel exhaust was much safer than an automobile exhaust.

Just make sure a/c's on recirculate otherwise cracking the window will just draw the fumes from the motor in and if your parked u will die from carbon monoxide poisoning especially sitting amongst other trucks at a truck stop

I woke up with a splitting headache in Kansas City one night at a pilot and was like man I never have headaches why do I feel like puckin?

I checked and my a/c was on outside vent....

Hidden Gem

Truckers path did me a good one today. I'm on the way to Minooka Illinois from Yakima Washington on a cider run

needed a place to fuel eat shower and rest so after my 640mile day through some of the most beautiful blue sky and changing mountainous landscapes

Truckers path led me to a Hidden Gem of a truck stop off I94 in Glandive Montana it's a Sinclair fuel stop off exit 213 it's listed as "trail star truck stop" Head right if headed east head left if headed west down before the light on the right

I posted a picture of my meal best damn steak I've ever eaton best damn clam chowder I ever tasted can't wait for room to finish off the night with the fresh blueberry pie

I had a similar meal in St Regis for 38.00 with tip. night and day difference 24.00 here gave a 5.00 tip to the girl cause she was real friendly( that's with an orange juice and tomatoe juice drinks)

They claimed it was a one pound Ribeye more like 3 Potato didn't even need butter.

Shower was $5.00 but a veteran trucker gave me his shower card as I was walkin up too the station so not only good eats but very friendly people.

Don't pass this one by Parking for 75 trucks give or take if yall park right they accept all major forms of payment including efs card for diesel.

I'm stuffed gonna shower and Hit the sac need another 600+ day tomorrow.
