What does Prime check before approving you for orientation?
Thank You I will keep you all posted and am looking forward to be part of prime
I think everything has pretty much been said here. So I can only reinforce what's been said with my own personal experience, and I'll repeat what I said in a similar post.
Brian, along with your background, Prime will be looking at YOU to see if you're of the right material they want. They may forgive past transgressions if they feel you have potential.
I'm nearing my 3rd week here in Springfield, and I've seen some real shady looking characters with bad attitudes come.......... and go.
Your honesty and attitude will go a long way towards your success. I told you my background, and they still seem to love me in spite of it. Positive, professional attitude.
I understand your concern with quitting your job and all. I was in the same boat. I know you are looking for a definitive answer to your "Will they take me?" question, but you aren't gonna get it, I'm afraid. We can't answer that.
If you disclosed everything and your recruiter still said you are ok, then chances are the rest is on you. Show up with a positive, professional MANNER and APPEARANCE, and you should have it in the bag.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

What does Prime check before approving you for orientation?
I am totally ready for the change. I want to retire from trucking in 25 years. Have been researching the life style for 3 years
So assuming acting in a professional manner etc. I am retiring from restaurant management to do this. I would assume I should be OK at orientation?
At that point it will all come down to the background checks, the DOT physical, and the drug screen. Then you'll have to pass your permit test (pretty easy). Then it will come down to whether or not you learn the driving and backing skills at a reasonable rate. Then it will come down to whether or not you can handle the challenges you'll face out on the road with your trainer. Then it will come down to whether or not you can handle life on the road as a solo driver.
In other words, it never ends in trucking. There really is no "finish line" where you reach a certain point and you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the job. There are always a ton of obstacles to overcome and challenges to face, day in and day out. And the most difficult challenges often have nothing to do with driving. They involve things like separation from home and family, erratic sleep patterns, constanting changing weather, heavy traffic, extended periods of solitude, and other lifestyle factors that come with the territory.
I'm telling you all this just to make sure you have the proper expectations going into this. I don't want you (or anyone reading this) to think you just have to tough it out for a little while or just get to a certain point and then it all gets easier. So prepare yourself mentally for a challenging lifestyle, not just a challenging training period or testing period or rookie year. It never gets easy.

So what your saying is act professional, look the part. Be a team member!
These companies hire or send home for a TON of reasons as is their right. People get worked up about the obvious. But I saw a woman yell at the kitchen staff for being too slow, calling them names. A couple hours later she was sent home for "not being Prime material". Another guy showed up with ripped cut off shorts and sandals. When asked if he had shoes/sneakers/boots and more appropriate attire he said no. They gave him several days to either buy some or have them sent from home. He eventually got sent home when he didn't produce any.
Another guy went on and on about how he drove 15yrs but let his CDL lapse. When we got to the SIM class he called it a video game and purposely crashed into things. He got sent home.
Old school has said before the ENTIRE orientation and even the permit period is an interview. They need to know you can take things seriously, accept responsibility, represent the company professionally. Now, if you can do this, other things may be over looked...if you can't...a squeaky clean record still wont get you the job.

Question of deferred prosecution more than 10 years old
I have always had a great work ethic. My company I am leaving for this is sad to see me go.
So yeah Brian, as long as that B&E is the worse skeleton in your closet, I'd say you'll have no problem whatsoever.
My "bad boy" time was longer ago. 1988 in fact, but was far worse. CONVICTED of 2 felonies and a misdemeanor. Had license issues for awhile back then (fines, suspensions). But my work ethic was SOLID from then on, and I stayed out of trouble. I disclosed everything ASKED (as Rick said earlier). Prime welcomed me with open arms.

So I disclosed everything before orientation. Am I OK?
In orientation the head of security will come to class and say "if there is anything in your past we will find it. So come see me now if you think there could be an issue. It will help not hurt you".
They seem to be more concerned about lying, sneakiness, and trust than stupid mistakes we made when young. But deny something expecting it to not show up and you will get sent home. I've seen it.
No offense Rainy, but I've seen you post something similar to this many times. This isn't really the truth. I know someone who heard the head of security say what you say he says, and go tell him about an expungement, as you don't want him to find it. That person was told to go home, and they were on their own to do so. Many ppl think an expungement as the state says it is, as that offense being erased. So they arent trying to be sneaky, but Prime will tell them to leave. That is the truth.
I'm not offended. I think they take things on a case by case basis. One guy was asked about a DUI and he flipped out saying he paid $1500 to get it expunged, threw a chair across the room and yelled. He got sent home. Another guy was asked about a DUI like 7 years ago and they kept him. Did the guy forget the DUI or did the paper ask for the last five years? Idk. I never had any tickets accidents or convictions so I wasn't paying attention to time frames.
But you did just admitted that we were told to disclose to the head of security. They make the judgment. I can only state what we were told and what in have seen. I have seen some guys with expungement stay and some leave. Does the charge and the length of time since make a difference? I'm sure it does. Does the persons reaction make a difference? Probably.
I saw more people sent home for omitting information than admitting to it. And honestly some of the stuff people admitted to kinda scared me lol

Prime Inc. CDL training. Springfield, Missouri
I actually didn't disclose until invite due to what my past attorney said but read all posts. My recruiter said it it shouldn't be a problem. I am still nervous. Am I okay
Hi Brian,
I think you'd be ok with that. It was long enough ago. If you disclosed it and they still sent you an invitation to orientation, you're ok. But that would be a better question for your recruiter. Just make sure you tell them everything. They'll find it anyway. It's what they do.
Good luck
