If there is an opportunity to present your feelings towards this instructor with a policy or feedback loop I would otherwise its just an opportunity to show that you have a hard time dealing with a personality ( perhaps part of the training) .... just because you have experience as a teacher or in education doesn't mean that you have any ability to teach and if the same applies perhaps about knowing how to teach driving...... one of the questions I ask the recruiters that have been coming in " Do you have an established feedback loop on your trainers?" Perhaps Randy is the best driver the company has......doesnt mean he can teach anyone "how"...... Company programs use employees.....perhaps this is the start of "their" instructional career..... Imagine how you would feel if a "student" tells you how to teach..... Something needs to be said but how you say it and where and when will make all the difference in how your "advice" in received

18 year old idiocy is a common problem.... let me say first I have alot of experience in dealing with this age group as my former job was a manager at Gamestop..... there is an 18 year old ( 19 in december) in my class ....in Canada there is no age limit for driving across Canada however we still have to respect the US laws once we cross so driving in the US just isnt going to happen.... we have recruiters come in and even though this has been explained to this person each and every day..... he asks each recruiter if they will allow him to drive in the US.....I agree with Mothertrucker here @ 18 you are just not ready.... of course there will be someone who will be the exception to the rule .... be that guy if you are in classes you will save the rest of us a number of "OMFG just shut the heck up kid "moments I went so far as to today bring him a list of jobs that he would be accepted to and may actually give him a chance as its obvious his mom is not that interested... Side note ... telling a recruiter what a great driver you are because you drive 150km/hr 80-90 every day as you oversleep for work.....probably not helpful....lol yes that was the kids story today

Need advice on shifting gears smoothly and easily...
Ive been looking for anything current for helping learn .... the trick for me ( even this site) is very US based ( not a bad thing but there are some subtle differences up here in Canada) Ive driven standard and floated in my various cars ... understanding that you're trying to match the engine speed with the road speed helps and those videos are the most helpful Ive seen....( we actually watched them in class today) it comes down to using the tools available... Good luck to everyone and Sue I look forward to hearing about how it works for you....Ive been documenting my journey as well on here and I have 40 hours of truck time next week!!

What does a medical release need to say
I would check with USX ..they might have a form just for such an occasion... otherwise your Dr probably speaks "Doctorese" well enough to add some "legalese" to it to satisfy the requirements.... when you get your med card he will also have to sign off on your condition not being a factor or prevention of obtaining and maintaining a CDL...

I just asked my dm how many miles I have
Scott was also the guy saying he wanted to run more while his "team/partner" wanted to watch football.... pretty sure its got to be team miles .....the DM would have no idea who turned them as "team miles" are split between drivers so his name would be on that many miles for the term but would be accountable for 1/2 of them ( if its a fair split) more or less if it hasn't been "fair" ... we just had a group in today and talked about maximum miles available and the numbers are lower then that although for team in 7months those would be a little low for a top level team ( based on the numbers shared today)... just how I see it although based on others comments I cant see how its possible either to have turned that many

Need advice on shifting gears smoothly and easily...
If I can suggest going to youtube and doing a search for "yourboye" he has a great series on how to double clutch both up and down with a really great explanation and how too along with some tips.... he has a number of videos that I have found very helpful and when I showed the instructor he was quite impressed..... I'm sure some of the mods here could do something very similar....

Little cabs pulling trailers at warehouses
"shunt" truck.... door in the back makes the hook up of air lines easy so you done have to climb in and out.... most WH positions may also require forklift abilities as well as the AZ for "shunting" ... Up here at the Honda Plant people make some good money as a shunt driver and have great experience with backing skills....

It sounds to me that the majority of your problems are clutch control and shifting issues...... perhaps more time on the simulator...if they dont have one I would suggest "dry shifting" a truck ( not on but wheels chocked) with the various ideas your running into that could be called out via a recording on a phone or recorder...... good luck and you will get there but you have to really work to get rid of all the habits you have from your previous driving experience

My prime experience
hang on a tick...... you just finished instructor classes??? or just finished with the class portion of the instruction...... and have you decided to go to a lease option??? I'm sure that the hard sell was on since you got there to be a lease op but if you have read here I'm wondering why you would go that route as a brand spanking new driver who hasn't completed training yet???
