Being a nice guy?

Very nicely put Brett. I help people out when they are in a pinch as well. I am not a driver yet but soon will be and I think if drivers would stick together it would make for a better industry. Besides you never know when it might be you that needs some help.

Driving record

Well I have put alot of thought into the matter and I think the right thing to do is be honest and take my chances. I know that at least one job is off the table. I still dont understand how these companies can do this though since it wont affect them in any kind of way because it has been so long ago. In my opinion theses companies could be turning down potentialy very good drivers.

What a rough week!

Sorry to hear that flatwater.Sounds like things are going to be ok. I always hate to hear of bad things happening to children . We have to remember that there is a higher comand and we never know why certain things happen but there is always a reason. Good luck and keep us posted.

Driving record

Ok so I did some digging around my self with the DMV in virginia, which is where the first offense occured and then checked with the MVA in Maryland, which is where the second offense occured. virginia has no records at all that anything ever happened. They checked the system by name, date of birth and social security number and came up with nothing. The lady told me that they delete their records after 11 years if no other offenses have occured. Maryland on the other hand keeps alcohol related offenses for a lifetime. They can't even be expunged after 10 years. So in my case the offense in Virginia is like it has never happened and Marylands is still there.

Driving record

I have mentioned on here before about having two dui s about 25 years ago. Today a recruter from a trucking company came up and everything was looking pretty good until i told him the same thing. He said one dui was not a problem but two disqualifies me. After the recruter left I was talking to another pretty well informed guy who told me not to sweat it because the companies can only go back ten years on your driving record and any information beyond that would have to be volentary by me. So if this is the case how would they know if I didn't tell them. If they only check ten years back, why wouldn't everybody lie about it if it were beyond 10 years ago? I was trying to be honest and do the right thing only to be kicked in the teeth. another thing is, when the dui s happened I told my insurance agent about it and he, being a friend of the family said he wasn't going to report it and never did. My insurance never changed.

Going to class on the 15th of this month any advice

Ashley, I started a private school 3 weeks ago and I can tell you that the High Road Training Program will be very very useful. We have been working on log books for a short period of time now and I am already way ahead of the class. The school doesn't teach us how to do the split sleeper birth part of it so the rest of the students in the class will not get the chance to learn it. I have mentioned this site to students several times but they just think im an internet geek and aren't very interested. I can tell you though, the instructors know that I know a little bit about whats going on and have called on me several times to kinda lead the class. Any way keep studing and im shure you to will get ahead of your class. Its a great program.

Wia funding and dot physical

Just got word the day before yesterday that my wia funding has came through. I went today for my drug screen and dot physical. My physical went great until they got to my blood presure part of it. It was elevated pretty high. By the time I left it had came down some and they were able to sign off on the long form for 90 days. It looks like I will be making a trip to the family doctor to get my meds upped a little. Any one have any experience with this kind of thing? My class could start as soon as the 18th of this month. I don't have to have my permit or test results till the 10th week of my class but would like to get all of this resolved so I don't have to worry about it again. I will be doing 15 weeks of class on weekends so that I can still work through the week. just a little concerned about the 90 day thing.

Brett is right

I was up at the shop yesterday doing some woodwork (hickory stair csse for a friend of mine). I have been studying pretty hard the past couple of days and as the belt sander is running, all of these questions are running through my mind and I'm remembering the answers as I go. Thanks Brett for the advice on studying the information here on T.T.. Doc

Paperwork

I have been reading alot of things about doing paperwork on here and just wondering what kind of paperwork is involved. I would think the companies would have all of the paperwork done before you pick up or deliver a shipment. I don't have a problem with paperwork, just wondering what is was about. Doc
