Schneider offering CDL training

This was the response I received from Schneider

Thank you for your interest in Schneider! In response to your question, Schneider unfortunately does not have any company-sponsored training anymore. The academies were closed in 2009. Schneider does offer tuition reimbursement of up to $6,000 if you attend an accredited Truck Driving School and are hired on by Schneider within one year of completing the program.

If you do have any questions, feel free to call!

I called them and they told me that they would send me to school. That was two weeks ago

And like I said try all the major carriers. See if they all say the same thing Prime did. I would guess that one of them would hire you.

Self-employed is different. I would hire a self-employed person and I would also hire someone who has had he same job for as long as Joe had. The problem would be verification on a corporate level. Most major companies want verification.

Company sponsored training hiring private school students?

Read Brett's book here https://www.truckingtruth.com/book/page24 Read this through page 28. It talks about big companies vs small companies. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I worked as a manager for a small company (non-driving) and I have worked for a mega cooperation (non-driving). There is definitely advantages and disadvantages to both.

Schneider offered to send me to a private school and would hire me out of it. I know of at least 5 other trucking companies (mega) who hires out of that private school as I have talked with several companies. As long as they have the proper certifications necessary a company will hire you.

Work history

Hello again, TT A few months ago I was rejected from prime for my "unverifiable work history." Unfortunately company sponsored training is my only real option for obtaining my class A. Due to me working under the table biting me in the ass, I grabbed a job where I am put on a payroll to sidestep my previous W2 issue.

Should I work this crappy job for a few years to show my work history or is there another way I can get my foot in the door of a company program now without holding out for a few years? I am aware of primes strict policies. Any replies are greatly appreciated. My grandfather drove a truck, everything is so regulated nowadays he says haha.

Joe

Is Prime the only company your looked into? I would try for all the major companies who offer CDL school, work for a year if you get the job and then go to Prime if that is where you want to be.

And to answer your question, yes I would work at that job for at least a year or two. As a former manager I would not hire a person with no credible work history if you are over 17

Celadon school on the air

Wow talk about false advertising. I have been to their headquarters in Indy which is also where the school is. The free boarding is in their own dorm. Military style. If its full they will put you down the street at a local bug invested and hooker infested motel. Free meals are select items in their cafeteria. Doesn't suprise me they have a revolving door spinning 100 mph.

Did the bugs come from the Hookers???? anywho it is free why the complaint? Do you want a company to pay for your school and give you a 5 star hotel? I will take a free peanut butter sandwich, with a free water over having to pay out of pocket for it.

I'll show you my stomach, you are definitely not obease. The bmi tests do not take into account muscle mass, bone density, and structure of your body. I would not worry to much just take the paper work with you, I doubt you would be sent away
