Oilfield Lay off

Been working in the oilfield/fracking and just got laid off a couple of weeks ago. Anybody got any good leads on hauling sand/water/crude in the east Texas area? Working in the oilfield I have learned to be very flexible as far as time, travel, etc. I do have my Tanker and Hazmat endorsements too. Any insight would be appreciated. I am about to get on this sites 'looking for jobs' deal and start there. Thanks again for any info.

Money, buy a truck, pay it off, buy another truck, pay it off and so on and so on:) In theory:)

Wanting to buy own semi then lease it out

A friend of mine was talking about buying his own semi and then leasing it out to a trucking/hauling company. For instance, I buy a sand hauling truck and lease it out to Tim Ables trucking company. I won't drive the truck, Tim Ables hires the driver and I'm not sure what my role would be. Is this even a thing to do? I know I can get online and research it there but I'm looking for someone who knows first hand about this and can lead me in the right direction. Thanks.

Just wanted to say thanks!

Hey Old School, yah I remember your responses and advice and I appreciate them. We are currently working in college station. That is where the majority of our work will be. I live in the Longview area and I have been home maybe 4 times in the last month. It's a crazy schedule, crazy hours but we are about to start a 2 weeks on 1 week off. So, when that happens I'll be able to spend some much needed time with the family:)

Just wanted to say thanks!

About a year ago I started looking into getting my CDL, went online, sifted through a lot of different sites, and landed on The Trucking Truth. This changed me and my families life. Went through the high road series, asked questions on the forum, studied and studied and passed my test to get my permit. I Got a job with a beer company where I was able to get some driving experience and eventually passed my CDL, but wanted more. So, I did more studying on the high road series and got my endorsements. Started applying at some oil and gas companies and landed an awesome job with a Fracing company. I have been there 3 months and am making double to triple the amount of money that I was making at my other jobs. A year and a half ago I never even thought about getting a CDL, I had never been in a rig. After looking at jobs online it seemed that there were more jobs with CDLs than not. So that is where it started and The Trucking Truth helped me achieve my goals. Thanks again, y'all have made a huge impact on me and my families life:)

Have CDL, now i need the HazMat. Questions:)

Hey Old School, good to hear from you too. I am working for a beer distributor and have been there since July 1st. It's a great job and I have been getting a lot of drive time in as far as beer guys go. As always, thanks for the advice. The high road helped with my first tests and it will certainly help with the Hazmat. Why change the formula, right?

Have CDL, now i need the HazMat. Questions:)

I am very familiar with the High road, it has been my number one guide into receiving my CDL. It really is amazing and really appreciate all that run this and participate. I guess what I am asking is if there is anything beyond the high road as far as tips or advice. Just started studying today and I am taking the test on Monday:)
