How to get a job and training after recent DL suspensions.
How recent was your license reinstated? That is a big factor. Mine has been good for two years but a lot of companies want the suspension convictions three years in the past. Blow is a list of companies that offer training. There is also a link on here for second chance companies I'm just not finding it right now. Those are companies that will hire with felony convictions. Maybe some of the more experienced members can post that link.

So I had my path into trucking planned out and was working the plan. I am about 6 weeks from being able to make the jump. After reading a couple blogs and recent post about private schools I re-evaluated myself and applied to several companies through the TT link. Now it seems that a company that was no where near my radar screen has popped up and may be where I go. Thanks Brett and Errol for the informative post and blogs. I will keep everyone updated as things move along.

Busting The Free Agency Myth In Trucking - article by Old School
Thank you Errol for the info. I read the first two articles on pre hires. I will work on getting them. I know Melton offers them and I am sure TMC does also. While these are my top two companies I sure don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. I will continue to investigate other opportunities and get as many pre hires as I can.

Busting The Free Agency Myth In Trucking - article by Old School
I am applying to a private school and hoping to get started first week of March. My reasoning behind the private school is the two top companies i'm looking at do not offer company sponsored school. I have chose these two companies based on home time, pay, and benefits.
I am not opposed to company sponsored and i'm not trying to be a free agent.
Brett I understand your thoughts on private schools after reading your blog about them. While the company doesn't have anything invested in me I do. In all.i do I try to be the best. I don't want to be second or just average. I have a string work ethic and a desire to make as much as possible.
Is my reasoning for go private sound? It seems to be in my mind, however we all know how well that can work out. Lol
Thanks for all the info.

Getting CDL with 4 duis? Worth it?
Bryan, Congrats on the sobriety. My sobriety date is 12/16/2006. I myself have two DUI's from back then. With the shortage of drivers im sure there us a company that will put you on. As earlier mentioned you may have to spend your first year with a company that keeps you out longer than you want, but after that then your options may well open up. Good luck.

Two is a lot - but 10 years ago, may make you hirable, depending on what your driving/criminal history looks like since then.
As far as "expunge" goes - it may clear your driving record - but ANY TIME you've been arrested and printed, comes up on a criminal background, because a copy of those prints goes to NCIC (FBI) and that's FOREVER.
I know, because of dismissed charge from 28 years ago, that came up on a background when I tried to get a F.A.S.T. card - but was never questioned when I got my TWIC & HazMat.
Rick
Rick, I do have an invite with Swift. I head to Memphis on may 15 to start the training academy.

As mentioned how many and when they were is key. I had 2 dui's 10 years ago. Most companies I have talked to want them to be at least 5 years old.

Looks like I am going to be a Swiftie!!!!!
Don, you are feeling a sudden compulsion for blue trucks with orange writing on the side, lol. Seriously though, shoot my company an App and see what they say. Couldn't hurt to get as many prehires on the table as you can to choose from.
Btw, I drive for H.O. Wolding.
Haha, Patrick never misses a chance to shamelessly plug H.O. Wolding.

CDL School bad experience
That sounds like the school is trying to sweep it under the rug.
