Helpppp please

If you take the written test and pass you will get your DCL permit for one year. As far as different companies this site is great for research. If you go under Main and click on Trucking companies hiring, it will give detailed info on trucking companies and what they are offering.

Do not give up, just keep doing research and calling all of the major trucking companies. Just because one company turned you down does not mean that the next will have a problem with you.

TMC

I will keep you posted. It wont be until mid July though because I am moving to SC on July 12, so I am going to call TMC around June 16th and tell them that I will be all set and ready to go by July 15th. I have not looked into Roehl, what made you decide to go work for them?

CDL training

, I have never driven a truck before but I've been studying and doing great on this site's training program, anybody have any advice that will help me succeed?

I am currently in school, my advise to you is that whatever you do, DO NOT get discouraged. There are times when you will get frustrated, specially if you have never driven a truck, but you just have to pus through it and keep practicing, when it comes down to skills and shifting. There were 16 people in my class when we first started and I am about half way through and there is only 10 people left now. Alot of the people that quit did it because they could back up right or parallel park or even shift right. All of these skills will come to you with time and practice so do not get overwhelmed and just keep at it.

Keep us updated on how you are doing at school. It is always great and encouraging for those of us that are going to school to hear from another guys or gals that are having the same difficulties so we can help each others out.

TMC

Yeah, Gus was my recruiter. My problem is that I am moving to SC in mid July so he told me that the pre hired letter is only good for 30 days. I have to re apply mid June and get pre hired again. I am hoping that since they already got all of my paperwork it wont take as long this time and they pre hire me again. I hope everything works out with them because I have a baby, a wife and a dog that are depending on me to bring that paycheck home. I have alittle money save up to make us get through until I get my own truck and start making real money. I got my hopes set up for TMC but if for whatever reason it doesnt work out, I have been pre hired with Werner Enterprises and U.S. Express also.

Thank you for the insight. I also wanted to thank you for the amazing website you have put together. It has really helped me to do research on companies and get honest opinions on what people think of certain companies and how they are doing working for them.

I graduate school on May 26th and test on May 30th. I have been pre hired with TMC and from my research and my father-in-law (he drives for them), they are a great company to start of with. I am hoping to hear from experienced drivers about what they think of this company and if they have driven for them. Please, any comments and suggestions help. I am trying to get pointed in the right direction.

Shifting

My school also prefers people that have never driven a stick because they dont have "bad" shifting habits. You will catch up fairly quickly to the double clutching. Atleast in Virginia, where I am getting my CDL, you havr to double clutch for your road test but once you get on the road you will be flowing the gears so you dont kill your knee.

Im not gonna lie, its gonna be challenging at first but after the second or third time driving the truck it will get alot easier.

Good luck

Pre hired with TMC

My school has done the same thing. TMC is the number one company they reccomend, and the other reason I went with them is because my father-in-law drives for them.

They got great looking rigs, their hometime is good too, since I have a daughter, and my father-in-law always talks great things about them.
