Is there a network for long-haul drivers and passengers to connect for shared travel?
With all the new laws that companies have, the only passengers the majority of them allow are family members. That being said, you could always go to the truck stop and try to find a driver who is headed that way, and will give you a ride. But be forewarned.. back in the day hitch hiking was pretty safe...not so much now. There are some really weird people out there.....Were I you, I'd ride the long dog...atleast you will know where you stop and stuff.... Good Luck
THX Starcar (love your handle)
I definitely don't feel as comfortable with the idea of hitching like I used to! I need to bring my feline family with me tho, so the long dog won't work for this trip (you do mean Greyhound, right?)
I would feel safer with a woman driver, no offense to the good guys out there.
I just heard from my friend who was to start training at C.R. England tomorrow, and they put him up in a motel with blood and feces on the wall and bed and floor! Anyone know about this company? In Indiana?

Hi,
I am new to the site, great work and mission! My friend just began OTR/CDL training and I am going to send this site to him pronto.
I originally began googling to find out if there is a communication network of drivers and passengers...anyone know of something like this online? I know a lot of comms go through the radios but seems like internet has changed customs too.
Waaay back in the day (I am 39 now), I used to hitch around quite a bit and often rode with drivers for stretches. I am needing to travel to be with family from Oregon/Washington region to Indiana, and I thought maybe I could find rides with truckers again. I could definitely pitch in for gas and food! I miss the open road and meeting lots of different folks and would much rather travel that way than by plane.
Anyhoo, safe traveling to all and keep up the good work here! It's great to see so much support for drivers!

Thanks for the info Brett. Sounds like things have changed a lot. I will probably just stick with Craigslist in my search for a way to IN. Best wishes to you.
