Any suggestions?

Hi Freebird, good luck to you in school. The school I am going to is a private school here in Colorado only. I hope you understand if I do not name it.

Any suggestions?

Hello everyone, it has been awhile since I have been on here. I started school in late April and should have graduated in May. So here is a little background. It is embarrassing for me to say that I am getting ready to re test for the third time. I have done great on everything except for the backing (alley dock), but here in Colorado it does not matter what you pass, you have to re take everything all over again. The third week of school is when we started to practice backing for four half days, and when there is 3-4 students per truck it is difficult to get time in.

So the day of my first test, I had only practiced alley dock 3 times and I got the alley dock. After I failed that, I was told to come back in 2 weeks and practice the day before and then test the next day. Well I did not even get to practice backing except my offsets and straight line which I have done great with. The second testing try was all on me, again I did great on everything, offsets, straight line, pre trip, and road but I drew SSP which I have done great in practice and I just blew it. Now when I re test for the third time it would be almost three weeks since my second attempt and no practice time in between except for the day before. I hope I do not sound like I am whining or anything, because ultimately this is on me.

I have a lot riding on this and I am not about to give up, If I can get through special training in the military, I know I can get through this, I just need more practice time. So my first question is, is this normal in private cdl schools to wait this long in between tests with no practice? Second, if my third attempt goes south, would it be wise to think about going to company paid cdl school (which I should have done)? Would company paid school even accept me if I walk away from private cdl school? I did ask why I had to wait so long, the response is that we have a lot of students that have failed and trying to get them back on the schedule is difficult. Any advice as always would be appreciated. Thanks for letting me ramble on.

Frustrated with alleydock ;(

Flatie I tested yesterday and I also fudged the alley dock, now I have added extra 3 days to my school. Hang in there, I know it is frustrating but like G-town mentioned, it just might be a blessing in disguise.

Christian truck drivers

Great thread, add me to the list of fellow believers. I am not a truck driver yet, I tested yesterday in school but I fudged my alley dock, I retest Wednesday and Lord willing, I will have no issues.

Week 2 is in the History Books

Glad things are going well for you. Great advice, and it is so true, we have one in our class that is struggling because he does not study, or pay attention and just acts like he can squeak by. There is so much information in such a short time. For those that are getting ready to go to cdl school, take Tractor Man's advice to heart.

Update!

Good luck! I am 45 and I understand your feelings on changing careers, however with me, I had no choice. I have one more week of school and I head to Schneider myself, who knows we may cross paths soon.
