Hazmat Dilemma

Yep good luck Karen, you paid might as well finish...Good luck in school as well ! you got this ...DMV window people aren't the all-and-knowing they lie to think they are! Had traded cars years ago, no cash. They tried to charge me sales tax on value of the trade. I said (politely) ain't no way I'm paying 'double' taxes, when I paid them buying my original car! Supervisor came over and agreed with me, saved me 100s ! lol

Stevo VWBusman:

Thanks!!! Yeah, there is never a dull moment at the DDS. I think I have been there more in the last few months than I have in my entire life lol.

Take care

Hazmat Dilemma

double-quotes-start.png

I showed up at GA DDS bright & early today. First I was told that I couldn't take Hazmat cause I just have a CDL permit. She asked her supervisor who told her how to "trick the computer system" so I could test. That's what I'm talking about.

Took the test & passed it!!! It won't show up on my CDL till i (hopefully) get a permanent one. I also won't pay the testing fee till then. Don't know how other states are, but In GA you keep a paper CDL permit till u pass the driving test.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. My questions have only just begun. I start trucking school Mon.

My next stop is $1 short stack pancakes from IHOP for St. Patrick's Day. Just have to wear green

Take care everyone.

What I read from that is who taught you to cheat us out of another cdl renewal liscence fee when you would if you had waited had to pay another fee to get your cdl hazmat endorsement added to your current cdl.

Steven:

From what I understood, I will have to pay the fee when I go back to get my permanent CDL. I was trying to pay now, cause I didn't want my results to cancel out & I have to retake the test lol.

Roehl Company-Sponsored Program - Day to Day

Ok so I missed yesterday. We started out most of the morning in the classroom going over the "roehl way" of driving. Then spent about 30-45 minutes working on the pre trip before lunch. After lunch we worked on the pre trip again and then spent the rest of the day out driving around town, some back County roads, and highways.

Today, we started out doing our pre trips. It started snowing and wind gust up to 40+ mph so the instructors had us pull in the shed to finish them. Then we went out and spent the morning driving around town. After lunch we went over the in cab of the pre trip again. Then we hit the backing range working on our offset and alley backs. Then it was back out to the roads. Instructor had us take the highway for a few minutes so that we could feel what it was like to drive in high speed crosswinds. Then we went back to driving around town. After that it was time to go back to the hotel

Thomas:

I always look forward to your posts. How is driving, backing & pre trip going? You're almost thru your 2nd week!!!

I took my Hazmat & passed it today. Trying to get my duckies in a row for my first day of trucking school Mon.

Hazmat Dilemma

Steve & Rick:

Yeah, I'm gonna take the Hazmat test tomorrow. I invested in my background check & it's my last week of unemployment. If I don't do it now, I'll regret it.

Thanks so much.

Trucker diet need help

Hello everyone. There are some great replies on here!!! I have lost 50 lbs & I was already wondering about eating on the road. I'm real picky & wasn't going to drive all over creation looking for food. Not to mention factoring in parking for a big truck.

I have to do exercise as I can, if that means laps around the truck. Provided I pass trucking school lol

Take care.

Hazmat Dilemma

I would get your HazMat regardless of Roehl requiring it or not. You may not work there forever. I understand that lots of loads qualify as HazMat that you may never think of. For example. Certain quantities of laundry bleach or household cleaners going to a Grocery Store. If you have studied the High Road, the HM test is a piece of cake. Go and get itgood-luck.gif

Tractor Man:

That's what I was thinking & I have been studying the High Road Hazmat like crazy.

Thank you.

Hazmat Dilemma

I am preparing to take the Hazmat test. Already had my background & fingerprints clear.

My Roehl recruiter said I don't need that endorsement. So if I don't take the test, does the background clearance expire? I would take the test not to lose the $86 I paid lol.

Helpful responses would be appreciated. I am a newbie w/nothing but questions. Thanks.

HAZMAT?

Bring that paper with you to the DMV

Phil:

I actually went by DDS w/my letter today. They said if I'm in the system, I can test for Hazmat.

Tuesday is their busiest day since they're closed on Mon. I went home & did my application online & printed it out. I'll be ahead w/that when I go back. I am going either Wed or Thur when it's not such a circus.

Thanks.
