Hi Steve try an keep cool and take your time. The slower you go back the better it is .you Can correct your Self .then wen you try go at a speed that you not happy With an if you go panic only slow panic i dont know anyone who jump in a truck at first an Can go back etc. And remember in the Real World it be better to be slow then have a load of paperwork to write up when you have hit a Wall or a park car. It Will come to you a bit like riding a bike

How to return the truck

This last load continues to be a pain in the arse. The shipper informed me that it would not be ready before the storm arrived. So past the info onto our office, and a couple hours later we were taken off that load to repower a load going to ohio.

For those of you keeping track Ohio is nowhere near Laredo, TX. Lol.

I explained that we could do it but needed to be routed to our yard in South Holland Illinois right after so we could get home. She did one better and routed us to the yard directly where a regional guy will make the delivery.

Called Werner and explained the situation, they were very good about rescheduling us for orientation on Wednesday in Indianapolis.

All in all with the exception of having to deal with some weather tonight and strong winds right now, this should work out better with 36 hours or so of home time thrown in between load and getting on a bus.

As for trainer or no trainer - we will have to go out for 2 weeks with a trainer. Which in thinking about it I'm okay with. I have zero snow driving time... and I'd like to do some with an experienced driver before navigating it on my own.

I'll create a separate post on the Werner orientation once we go through that.

Well done! All in the life of a trucker. You start clean and a clear mind

How to return the truck

Oh, I would also try to push the shipper, saying you have a medical emergency back home and need to get going asap. Light a fire under their a$$. Maybe even pay a few bucks to the guys loading so they get you outta there fast on the 26th.

some think to think about , It may be hard to finish your tur but do it .if you leave it an in time to come you tell this story over a cup of coffe who ever you tell will never trust you again,, an if you tel your new boss why you maybe late thay should understand an it will show them you are of a man of your word. I wish you luck an hope you do what is best all round

CDL training at CRST, Cedar Rapids, IA

First day was Dec 7, 2015. Arrived Sunday night got bed in 3 bed room. The other two guys had their cdl's and one of them had been driving solo for 7 years. TV in lounge off at 2300, no food allowed in rooms over 250 people in my CDL A permit class. Getting up at 0400 since breakfast(cereal &toast is at 0430).

Monday- Started class, 10 people out of 250 had driven a standard transmission. Class not bad and instructor was entertaining and knowledgeable. Class from 0700-1630. That night my drivin solo roommate left in the middle of the night with many explicatives , he thought he was going to be drivin in 2 days yet the orientation is 4 days, this was his 10th company in 8 years.

More classroom on Tuesday, same hours. probably 1/4 of class gone already.

Testing on Wednesday with DMV. Passed easily missed 2 on general knowledge and aced combo and air-brake-Thanks Trucking Truth for the CDL practice it really helped and I strongly recommend that anyone who wants to pass first time do it, the repetition makes it a no-brainer.

goin to driving school in waterloo, ia. You do good CRST will treat you right , no complaints so far, take the initiative, get endorsements on your own, and they will take care of you

Can't wait to drive.

Ok an thank youOk an thank you

Requirement is 1 year with a USA drivers license before you can get a CDL license. So at 1 year and 1 day you could start the CDL schooling/ or take the CDL learners permit test. The High Road Training, on this website is superb.
