Chicago Schneider intermodal - Gary, In Schneider tanker

Hi guys I am considering going after a regional intermodal opportunity with Schneider out of Chicago,IL. The listed job posting says you can be home multiple times per week. Are there any regional intermodal drivers from Schneider that can vouch for this or just give me some insight into what the opportunity is like? 2 questions in one lol Are there in any drivers that do the local tanker positions for Schneider our of Gary, In??

Truck with a brand new clutch!

That makes allot more since now .... Thanks for your help!

C.J. this shifting issue can also affect you when the company you work for moves you to a different brand of truck. Even within the same brand of truck, different year models can shift differently.

Your brain is like a computer that has the ability to learn, and it just needs a little time with the new equipment. After a few days, your brain will learn the differences between two, and you will be back to shifting smoothly again.

Truck with a brand new clutch!

Ok, thanks for your help. I'll b back at it again tonmorow so hopefully things will go much smoother

Hey CJ, nothing to worry about, your trainer is correct. That brand new clutch hasn't had a chance to break in yet and is still pretty tight. So tight, that if you're trying to double clutch still, you'll probably just have to give it a little more effort to compress the spring pack. It'll take a bit to get used to but don't worry, you'll get the feel for it pretty quick.

Truck with a brand new clutch!

Hey guys I have a question and maybe someone can help me out. I just finished cdl school last week and have started training at my current job behind the wheel of a tractor trailer. By the time I took my state exam my shifting was just fine. I've been training with one of the senior drivers at my current job who has a brand-new truck and I drove and shifted in his truck just fine took a couple days to get smoother with it but got it down pretty smooth. Today was the first day behind the wheel of the truck that will be mines that I'll be driving. Now of course as a rookie the truck they gave me is much older and has a brand-new clutch in it, and I had quite a time shifting in it. While in school there was one truck on the yard that had a brand-new clutch in it. For whatever reason I have had a difficult time shifting the trucks that I've driven with a brand-new clutch so of course my question is does a brand-new clutch affect the way that the truck shifts or do I just need a lot more practice? The guy riding with me that is training me and mentoring me as a driver says it's nothing wrong the truck that I just have to get use to it. But I just can't kick the thought of wondering if the new clutch effects it at all b/c of the consistency I've seen. Thanks guys, Sincerely CJ
