The bottle....

I definitely agree with Jopa. Also, you might consider anything which acts as a diuretic that you're taking in a lot. Caffeine and alcohol are two biggies. Excessive intake of processed foods and the sodium that goes with them is another concern. And finally, being diabetic or pre-diabetic can be an issue as well.

These are all things I've had to learn the hard way. >_>

Link to some natural cure info for high BP . . .

SilverBolt,

That's VERY interesting to me because I have been waiting until mid-day to "break-fast" for years, automatically. Don't get me wrong, I can have an omelet in the AM with the best of them but my natural inclination is to not eat until noon or later. I've always been informed I am skipping the most important meal of the day and that, since I am diabetic, breakfast is even MORE important. Hmmmm. I've seen lots of stuff from Dr. Mercola and he seems to have some really good information. Thanks for the links.

The dice are a bit loaded against me, as I absolutely LOVE breakfast. Both getting up and eating a big breakfast, and breakfast foods in general. I could eat a 3-egg farmer's omelet for every meal and enjoy it. So my best bet is probably to skip dinner.

I found Dr. Mercola years ago, and his advice and knowledge has always made far more sense to me than a lot of what might be called more mainstream doctors. I'm already wondering if I could fit a power plate into the sleeping berth of a rig (once I can even afford one!).

As long as we're putting it out there, I'm a major proponent of the so-called 'primal' or 'paleo' lifestyle.

Something else to consider for weight loss and reining in blood pressure, IMO, is something called 'intermittent fasting'. This is a lifestyle change which I imagine would actually go very well with truck driving. More recent info on intermittent fasting is here.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Daniel. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely be considering something like this when I'm hauling.

Yeah so this happened today on the road......

I just went back and watched the video again. Going by my actions I noticed her roughly at about 29.5 second mark. I started to move at the 30 second mark and it was done about the 34.5 second mark at the point of contact. So basically the entire encounter was 6 second long.

I bring this up because in that 6 seconds a million things were going on. They say while driving you are processing a few million pieces of data every second subconsciously and only the 15 to 20 most relevant items are brought to your attention as worth further investigation.

And this video proves once again that things happen so very fast out here on the road. That's why they preach speed and space management. I had my space cushion around me which is why I was about to change lanes. Though in my opinion I did everything right to try and avoid any accidents but the deciding factor was out of my hands so at that point I was left with only one option....try to limit the amount of damage or injuries that were about to be the out coming of someone else's bad decision.

I realized that I had not remembered everything exactly right until after I review the video which was later that day after I talked to safety. I told safety that it was a 4 lane highway there. And that is how I still remember it but looking at the video you can certainly see its a 3 lane road. Somehow in my mind I turned that on ramp she came on to the highway on into the 4th lane. Why? Not sure. For a very short time it was an extra lane. Far as I know that is the only thing I got wrong in my statement to safety but I can guarantee you that little misremembered piece of info should not be held against me at all but I have a feeling something might be said about it. Just a hunch.

Been there, bro. I've had an inexperienced motorcyclist bounce off my left front bumper (operator's license, not commercial). You did everything right. You saved lives with your reflexes.

High end gaming laptop/desktop power inverter

You'd be surprised. Truckers talk about anything! And we always have something to say about every topic.

But, I too am a recovering addict for 3.5 years now. Quit right before Cata, just as the entire game was switching over to catering to children.

I first got into WoW just before Cataclysm. I chose Horde because I preferred their philosophy -- and quickly learned to hate going into Oggrimar because the sheer number of mammoths wandering around brought my ancient video card to its knees whimpering. Cataclysm being released cleared that up right away, but holy crap.

I had all kinds of fun playing it. Too much fun. Anyone here remember Evercrack? Yeah, it almost got that bad for me. So I deliberately pulled out, and am staying away from it.

That said, if anyone's still running a MajorMUD board, I might deal myself in, just to sate the addiction a little...

Screamings and Hallucinations!

I thought this was going to be about seeing things (like "little green men" and UFO's) while on the road, and other things attributed to "micro sleep."

Dave

In my case, I hallucinate that I'm listening to Art Bell on the radio. Anytime I hear 'from the high desert' I know it's time to go back to bed.
