Tight turn close call

I have less than a year in trucking, and I almost got stuck while making a turn in a negative angle corner, because I did not saw a disabled vehicle almost at the cor er

My quick thinking saved because I’ve decide to drive over the curb in order to clear the disabled vehicle… I cleared tbe vehicle by Inches only….

After that I thought… what would happen if I could not make the turn and get stuck??

That corner is close to a expressway and for sure will create a traffic jam

In that case, The police could ticked me, or I would be into some form of saction? Or even it will show in my record?

A fellow CDL driver owes a big wad to the IRS

He has an LLC company, and decided to sell his truck and back to be employed

I wonder if there is a way to lessen his debt with the IRS…. Any comments will be welcomed

Is there any collection or map that gather all or some "Prone to accident" SPOTS of cities in the US?

I started to work trucking in NYC, and I already have identified certain "spots" of NYC that are prone to accidents:, for example: when you are going from under the 678 expy to go to the upper portion of the 678...you have to pass a small underpass, and then the danger comes up...when joining the upper 678, there is NOT enough space for a truck to join it....I mean. it barely has space.

another problem spot is insuffolk county, at the 27 (sunrise)expwy, exit 43, if wanting to go to gthe 5th ave north, you dont have space to exit the sunrise, and immediately take the right lane to take the fork to take 5th ave north.....

anybody knows any more dangerous spots of NYC??? or any other towns or counties of US?

How to ensure to be “LATE” at the alley dock?

Roberto, welcome to our forum!

Your instructor is giving you some basic outline or steps that will enable you to pass the test - that's it. Don't try to analyze it or overthink it. For now just try to follow directions and get past the test.

Once you get out on your own you'll develop your own methods and practices. I never even think about looking at my landing gear when backing. All that is for is a reference point to help you do what's required for your test.

Thanks guys, I see the whole pucture now

How to ensure to be “LATE” at the alley dock?

Hello everyone, I got a question, this is for the alley dock , 90 degree backing test to get the CDL -A license.

I am learning how to do the 90 degree backing alley dock test

And the intructor told us that after to make your first right, you back and stop at the middle of the “K” at the bottom of the landing gear., then you start backing up to your cones... well the question is, at this point, what would happen if we dont stop at the “middle” of the bottom of the “K”, intstrad, we stop a little to the right of the “K”, or a little to to the left of the “K”... which one ofthese positions are best suited to ensure that the trailer will be always “late”?... (so we can make a hard right clise to the drivers side cone, the the subsequent left to put the trauck behind the trailer?
