Pass CDL DMV driving and skills test.

I decided not to go to school and to just take the driving test myself with DMV. Not a big deal. Glad I went this route. Saves me 2 to 6 thousand dollars tuition fees and free from obligation to drive for company for certain amount of time. Now looking to go to work in so cal.

Just want to go to school!

Yea that's cool but I'm in Cali. I'm looking for school that will accept me. Cause my permit will expire next month. If I don't pass driving test wednsday. And waiting list for dmv testing is 6 to 8 weeks.

Look through the company reviews I saw couple that might take a five year old dui. Fell asleep before I could write them down. I know a company that might hire but you have to be within 3 hrs of Mt Airy, N C

Thank you , this is great links. Hope is now regained.

Al, that five year old DUI is probably a deal breaker for Company-Sponsored Training Programs. I recommend you let some more time go by on that if you need to go the company sponsored route. Check out the following information about pre-hire letters.

You may need to see if you can get some pre-hire letters first before pursuing this too much further. If you could get a few pre-hire letters then you could pursue a private school, but that will require having the cash to layout to obtain the training certificate. The company sponsored programs are very strict on Criminal background issues and DUI. There are a few trucking companies that might give you a shot. Check out this information on what you need to know about getting a truck driving job with a DUI.

Yhanks Chris.

Prime does not allow any DUI's.

This is in their company review section here on Tt. Like I said not sure. Primes Website itself is vague. I guess if you can talk w someone at company you can find actual answer.

Prime CDL School Minimum Hiring Requirements

At least 21 years old.
Proof of U.S. residency or Green Card.
A stable work history and good references.
Previous employers and references will be checked and must be verifiable.
No reckless convictions in the last three years.
No failed or refused drug or alcohol test in the last four years (this includes DWI's, DUI's and BAC's).
No license suspension for points in the last three years.

I copied and pasted this from TT 's sponsored training reviews page.

The company review for this website says no dui for prime but Prime website says differently.. A little vague on its requirements so I'm not sure. 😳

The reason I applied to prime is cause I looked on this sight's company job listing link and it shows that prime go back 4 years for DUI. I thought great i'm good to go. seems like a great program. I figured they be happy to see me with a permit already.

DOT Physical

Thank you guys.

99% of companies will do another physical at orientation.

While you BP is passing for a 2 year med card (below 140/90), you are right on the borderline of failing.

If you're a smoker/coffee drinker and you did so before going for your physical - that might be responsible for your "borderline numbers". Add to that the "nervousness" of passing an important physical.

The links Anchorman provided give some good info.

You would do well to continue checking your BP, and if you have any "underlying conditions" (overweight is a big one), getting them in check.

No shame in having to take BP meds - long term negative effects of high blood pressure on your health, are too important to ignore.

Getting ready for PSD program with Prime inc.

I have my permit already. Will they accept me?

My journey to Springfield, Mo starts next Saturday where I begin the Prime CDL program. I'm pumped and anxious at the same time. I've gotten the support from my family and am ready to go. I've never been to Missouri before so it'll be an adventure, and I'm all for adventures! It'll be far outside my comfort zone and I don't know what to expect.

It's a definite roll of the dice, but with the nervousness I also feel great about the opportunity. I feel it's time for a new chapter in my life. I'll finally get to go for my CDL and pursue something that's been on the back burner for a long time. I actually feel better about this decision than I have about any other career choice so far. I'm excited to be able to experience and strive for a future in a career that offers me what I want. It all starts in one week.

Driving over the road will feed my wanderlust and will test me. With the challenges I will face out there and the independence I'll get to enjoy, I will grow to be stronger and will get to finally experience a taste of the dream of spreading my wings and roaming the open road. As some of my family has found their home outside of Florida, I believe that mine is out there as well, waiting for me to find it. This Greyhound ticket out of Florida will start my journey to get to see the beauty this country has the offer. It's a tough road ahead and I look forward to it.
