Thanks for the info, I am shifting through it☺
1)Does the two hours need to be in one block?
2)Or after 8hrs break, I have 4hrs driving in this case. Can I drive 1hr, sleeper 1hr, drive 1hr. then complete sleeper 1hr.?

So, I have been driving for a year and a half and recently discovered the 8/2 split using my electronic logs. I must say it is a powerful tool because I can start my driving after 8hrs without waiting the full 10hrs. I am not sure how it all is calculated or works, so here is my example:
I drove yesterday starting with 8/2 split. Last night arrived at rest area with 6 minutes of drive time. This morning after 8 hours of sleeper, I received 48 minutes driving and 1hr 36 min(or close to it..did not write it down) on 14hr on duty.
I drove 39 minutes to truck stop, so now have 9 minutes driving left and my 14hr is used up. I'm at truck stop now.
A few questions:
1, How was the 48 minutes calculated? Is it 6 minutes from last night x 8? Is the 1hr 36 minutes double drive to calculate 14hr?
2. Do I need to take the 2 hrs straight? Or cane I take 1 hr off duty drive a few minutes, then take another 1 hr off?

Thanks for all the recommendations. I really enjoy the info here and it helps a lot for us unseasoned drivers. Much appreciated!

I parked in a Pilot Truck Stop during the day when most spots were empty. It filled up fast and by evening was full. I decided to leave early morning. I was backed in with a row of trucks and the other side was a row of trucks. There was not much room between the two rows. I pulled forward as much as possible to the other truck in front of me and cranked the steering wheel to the left, but there was not enough room so that the side of the trailer could pass without hitting the truck next to me. I ended up giving up and left in the morning when clear.
Is there a way to pull the trailer out further to give more space using a technique?

Swift In Cab Camera
I have been working for Swift Transportation for about a year and a half and have been happy. The have a reputation, but they hire many new drivers and it is to be expected.
They have a good 401k, ESPP, detention pay, good miles from a large company and probably similar to the rest of the trucking industry.
My opinion changed 100% when they installed my in cab dash camera, which is mandatory for all drivers. It records every minute of what you are doing inside and the front of the truck (ie dash cam). So, when you are sleeping, it's recording. When you are changing, recording and someone has access remotely to view the video and regularly check.
There are write-ups of drivers not using seat belts in terminals. If you touch your phone, you will be written up and need to come into the office to speak with a safety coordinator. If you are eating a sandwich while driving, grounds for dismissal.
I welcome the outside facing camera. However, the in cab camera watches every move you make and is privacy invasion. The cab is where I live and every movement is being recorded and potentially watched by someone remotely.
They may legally have the right to install the cameras, but we have the choice not to work for a company that does not value privacy.
