I'm getting ready to start driving on Tuesday. I chose to do a private school out of Minnesota across the border from my house. I'll be starting Century College in Afton, MN on Tuesday. Expected temperatures will be around -20F. I'll be bundled up for sure.
I have had quite the journey to get to this point after deciding in June this was what I wanted to do. I looked at company sponsored school and private schools. I decided to do the private route as I wanted try and get a local job. But, if I don't get that I have my eye on TMC as I'm used to flat bed work with my previous employer. My school will be 180 hours of contact, so that means I will be driving quite a bit. They have a few 48s, 53s, and a flatbed and they're 10spd trucks.
I'm excited for this journey to begin, I've been waiting and saving since June 2012. I'll be able to do a job I want to do and something I'm used to. Driving is definitely in my blood.

Hey guys,
I have a question about companies that do refresher courses. My father hasn't driven since 1998 but he still has a valid cdl and he's 50 years old. My dad wants to get back into driving. Are there any companies that would be a good suit? He's looking for drop and hook. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys!
I have a question on MVR. On my cdl college website it says I need to request a MVR. Which Wisconsin has theirs online request pdf file. I printed mine off and it lists time of print and my license classes as well my full name and address. Is this literally all that this document is? This is my final checklist that I need to submit before January. So I'll be dropping off tomorrow.
Thanks.

Preparing for Hazardous Materials
When I took the permit tests, I had general knowledge, air brakes, combination, tanker, doubles and triples. The lady at the dmv had the computer speak to me and tell me when I was incorrect. I thought I was going insane when every time an incorrect was said. It was tensing me up, and the screaming child that was there was NOT helping.
I swear I have interesting luck at public places...
I passed all those on the first try, and I'm hoping this one goes smoothly too!

Yeah my heart was pumping! Felt like I ran a marathon too, that was crazy times. I still have those dreams every now and then in my own bed at home. It's strange how are bodies think we are working while we're sleeping.

Are you ready for more snow? We're supposed to get more in my area tomorrow, hoping it's not too much. I'm still not ready for winter!

Preparing for Hazardous Materials
Friday I'll be testing into the school I'm signed up for. There's a required reading assessment since it's at a college campus. Afterwards I'll be taking my Hazmat. Which I'm mentally preparing for, I have been taking practice tests every day after work and I've been passing. But, there's always those questions that I get hung up on and have to ponder for a bit.
I'm ready for these tests to be done and get driving!
