MEDICAL CARD ISSUE...what to do??

(I could kick myself).....Well, I was all set to start training with Swift next week, I told the recruiter my DoT med card was expiring in 3 weeks so she sent me approval to my local clinic to get my DOT physical. I'm over 42yo and my blood pressure bottom number was just 5 points over guidelines. So to my disappointment the Dr issued me a 3 month card and advised the sleep apnea study. Ive always been "plump" but healthy and this is my first time ever dealing with a Dr trying to label me as "unhealthy." Plus the cost of the sleep apnea study is very expensive. I honestly don't want to do the study because I know it's my weight....over the past 9 months I have gained 43 pounds. Yes, I know it's my fault!!! So my question is can I NOT do the study and just lose weight within the next 3 months, then go take another physical over???

What should I do? (Thanks in advance)

Where to go? Class A learners permit

Hello. I have my class A leaner's permit. I really want to go with Prime Inc because my goal is to become an Owner operator and Prime seems to offer a suitable path to that goal. I have a recruiter there, filled out the full application and now I'm waiting on approval. But just in case Prime rejects me, what other company can I apply to that would be very helpful in leading me to become a successful Owner Operator?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Needing the truth...

Great, thanks a lot!!good-luck-2.gifgood-luck-2.gifgood-luck-2.gifsmile.gif

You definitely should not pay for private schooling in my opinion. You've already driven for a while. All you would have to do to get your license back is retake the CDL tests.

If you went back to your original company they would certainly work out the tuition situation with you. You will get the new agreement in writing, whatever that turns out to be. Keep this in mind - they want drivers. They want you back. They're going to try to make an agreement that will bring you back.

At the same time, you need to get that license back and no one is going to be a better way to get there than the company that's already familiar with you. They'll fast track you through their program because they need you out there on the road making money for them.

So talk to your original company and find out exactly what the terms would be on your tuition if you returned. They won't be able to give you exact terms on how fast you'll move through the program because that will depend on you. But believe me, they're losing money while you're in training, they're making money once you're out on the road running solo and moving freight productively. So they're going to want that license in your hands and have you in your own truck as quickly as possible.

Needing the truth...

I'm not sure if my former company (a mega refrigeratored carrier) will give me the whole truth but....I drove thru their company-sponsored program from Jan. 2016- Nov. 2016 (10 months). I quit before my 1year agreement and unfortunately became reliable for the tuition cost. Came home decided to drive school bus & license was downgraded to class B with the M-restriction. Now It's been 18 months since I drove T/T and my old company says I can come back however I would have to go thru their training again to get back my class A.

But I'm wondering about the tution....will they just revive my old loan or will they tack on a whole new loan (tuition) to me---doubling my cost??

Again not sure if I should go back thru former company program or just pay for private CDL school...

Curiousity of the normal

Hello,I'm curious to if it's just because I'm new or if my body isnt used to driving for so long but, after about four hours my eyes get hazy and tired(I'm only 22 and have drove for 2 months however; I've never gotten tired like this after four hours of physical labor..) I was curious does this happen to any one else, furthermore; does it happen to experienced drivers and if anyone has any tips so I can better myself I'd be grateful. I also have other questions but this is the main concern at the moment.

Hello. I'm new to this site as well as a new driver. I've been solo for 3 months now but anyway in regards to your question about feeling tired after hours of driving....when I was in my trainers trucks (3 of them) they all would turn on their AC keeping it cold on the truck. I didn't understand this, in fact it was quite frustrating until I became solo. I don't know what it is but keeping the AC on as cold as I can tolerate has been a help at keeping me awake and alert. But of course the best remedy is getting enough restful sleep. Hope this helped a little.
