I called the customer service helpline on DMV they said policies have been in effect effective April of 2015. Also, they said if you haven't tested for Class C within an year you have to take it regardless.

Also I spoke with Commercial Licensing Office in Sacramento they said you have to take since you are just getting your Commercial Licence. So I guess i gotta do it :)

What is a class C in California? In Arizona a Class D is a regular Drivers License.

Class C is regular driving license.. they are making me take a renewal test for regular test instead of jumping right into CDL general knowledge test.

I went in today to take my General Knowledge test for CDL but I was hit with General Knowledge test for Class C and I was confused because it did not mentioned anywhere you have to take renewal written test for Class C. I spoke with the people in DMV they said the laws have changed since 2015 of last year, and they require you to take Class C test also. Did anyone else experienced this? I cannot find any information on DMV website or anywhere regardless?

P.S: I got my Class C licence in 2012 and have a clean record.
