Daniel, I am just starting out, but I know that once i finish my training with prime, that they really push leases, i know i need to wait, but I am curious as to validity to each of them. I know that the prime drivers that i have spoke with have raved about the leasing and stated they made a lot more money than they did as company drivers, and had more control over thier home time than company drivers get. That and the price of a decent used one seems to be cheaper payments than what they are wanting for a lease. This is why i ask..food for thought so to speak.

Hey Roadhog, you and I will be in class together. I am in FL and I was told that if i bring my cdl permit with me, they will honor it and then let me take my driving test when i am back down here on a run with company truck. Look me up when we are in class. See you there Roger

I dont know if there are any Prime drivers on here that might be able to toss in thier 2 cents, but maybe someone can give me an idea of the differences between leasing a truck or purchasing one. I have looked at prices and see many good used trucks that are only a couple years old, that seem would be more affordable than leasing a new one. for example, prime literature says about 950 a week to lease a truck, which seems a little outrageous to me, vs purchasing my own truck, not subject to all of the company truck restrictions and lower payments from my calculations. So what would be the advantage to leasing vs owning? Thanks in advance for any input you choose to give. Roger

Army Navy surplus store, you can pick up a seabag (duffle bag to civilians) for cheap and they fold out flat. I think the most expensive one i saw was huge and it was only like $45, but i cannot see anybody needing one that big.

No BS Truth about Trucking Video
Just my 2 cents for the person on the youtube vid. I do not feel a bit sorry for you. As the son of man that drove for 50+ years, both inter and intrastate, was gone for up to 16 weeks at a time making a living for his family, yes he missed us, but he also loved the road and I am proud to say that he passed that love on to me and now I can only hope to be half the driver he was until the day he retired. I can honestly say I had the priviledge of being taught to drive by real driver (in an old 68 mack), and taught that you make your own life. you work hard, support your family and be proud of what you do. I learned from one of the best..and believe me he was the best but would never consider himself such, but anybody that knows him will tell you he is a true driver, Unlike you. Talk about making a family and his son proud (can your family say the same about you?)..he was 99 DOT driver of the year for both AZ and US, so take your candy@&& whiny bs and sell it someplace else because the real drivers, the ones that love this country and understand that without drivers moving the freight, this country would come to a standstill. Whether most people realize it or not, they depend on us to take care of them. So instead of crying, take pride in the fact that as a driver, you keep this nation functional..if you dont like driving, quit, this is a free country, nobody is forcing you to drive. You want to feel like and indentured servent, trying being stuck behind a desk 5 sometimes 6 days a week, going sometimes at sunrise and leaving after sunset, the only time you even see the sun is if you take lunch outside, if you get to take lunch, i know, i did that for 20 years. So grow a pair, and get a life and get out of ours.
