ELDs for Rental Trucks?

I know about the permits required by some states. But I'm confused now. Do you, or do you not, need to keep driver logs when driving a non- CDL commercial vehicle? The replies I received here ssid no, a CHP officer told me yes. Do different states have different requirements? Is going across state lines in furtherance of a business the determining factor?

No need to apologize. You do not need to log anything. Just be smart, if you are tired, take a break.

At a California weigh station, heading back from my trip, I was told by a CHP officer that logs are required even on a Class C vehicle if the the " vehicle is being operated in furtherance of a business." He didn't cite me for not having them ($1000 fine), but he advised me to get a log book and fill it out for the past 7 days in case I'm stopped again, which I have done. The replies I received seemed to indicate that logs are not required on a non-CDL truck. Did I misunderstand something?

ELDs for Rental Trucks?

My question is: I am a Class B driver. My company is renting a truck from Enterprise ( a non-CDL truck 26.') to take our gear out to California for a trade convention. We will haves the truck from Jan. 17 through Jan.31, leaving Chicago for Anaheim, CA on the 17th and returning on the 31st. Will I be required to use an ELD? What, precisely, are the Federal regulations regarding rental trucks and ELDs? I wo hi ldnlike simply to use paper RODS if possible.

CDL Class B

Don't think there's any such thing as a manual transmission "endorsement" per se' - just the lack of auto transmission RESTRICTION.

That may well be - I am uncertain about the terminology. When I took my skills and road test, I had to tell the person behind the counter at the test facility, "manual."

Class B work is going to be (typically) "route work" - like driving a Frito Lay truck, Pepsi truck, etc - delivering to local retailers and setting up product displays.

That's fine with me, since that is the type of driving I have been doing, and essentially what I am looking for.

CDL Class B

I've just obtained my Class B CDL License. I would like to know what opportunities there are for part-time work as a Class B driver. I'm not looking to be a driver full-time - I already have a regular occupation (musician). But, getting a CDL License is something I have been wanting to do for some time for personal reasons. Now that I have it, I would like to make use of it in some way. (I have both air brake and manual transmission endorsements.)
