Any Melton drivers around here still?

Looking for some info on MTL (Melton Truck Lines) there's not much to go by on youtube, or google really, other then salty drivers on "The Trucker Report" forum.. looking into flattbed after the daughters health gets around 90%.I hated leaving the road like i did but don't want to do van or tank.. already got a ton of info on TMC and Maverick. Nothing really comes up for MTL though. already spoke with a few recruiters and other then the daughters health, there's nothing holding me back from either companies. figured here would be a good place to start..

My lengthy absence

Lung issues are the worst! Glad she's doing better!

You said you were local in IA hauling pepsi? Where at in IA? I'll be looking for something local after putting a year in OTR.

Drove for Brown Logistics outta Grimes, IA wasn't a bad gig but keep your options open

Is the Wolcott, Indiana truck stop bigger than the one in Walcott, Iowa?

If you have credit cards, i recommend leaving them in the truck, theres a lot there and you might get tempted to purchase.. If you want a good meal tho, the dinner there is quite good. I always considered it a treat and then got a DQ afterwards =D.

but yeah it's a TA fuel site. the i70 one in Oak Grove, MO is a Petro and theres one down in Joplin, MO that is part of the chain as well.

Beach Bummed! Beach Access??

Find a place to park and call a Lyft. FL is actually very roomy. In fact, I took my bobtail to NASA Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral and I also took it to Disneyworld!

+1 for lyft/uber. I was watching a youtuber the other day who dropped his trailer and BTed to the beach..

The I 80 truck stop in Wolcot is massive go there if you haven't been

can confirm, Walcott, IA.. bout 30-45min from IL/IA border. Theres also 2 pilots there as well.. But there is always parking at the TA which is the Largest TS.

Creepy abandoned amusement park

Sitting here in Pioneer / Caryville, TN @ the Pilot. Has anyone else walked through that abandoned amusement park here ? It's right out of a Stephen King novel. I guess it was part of an old fireworks store that burned down ?

Ive seen it but never got to check it out. I like creepy things though. now im thinking of "IT"...

My lengthy absence

Hello TT fam.. Missed you all. Its been a rocky/bumpy/lengthy road for me this last year. I was doing good at as a local driver hauling pepsi product throughout IA. pay was decent but the supervisor I had to deal with really didn't make the job that great.. After a full year of his BS lies i left and went back to GTI/Heartland and did some OTR and had some great runs all over. Then I got some troubling news 3 months in. Our younger daughter's lungs weren't working to their full capacity. (35-40% function) to be exact. So needless to say, I had a deep conversation with my DM and was trying to see if I could run local and just be home every night since Heartland's terminal in IA was only 3hrs, id be able to do some local work, keep my job and still have some time to be home and help with my daughters health..

well there wasn't anything available so i stopped at home, unloaded everything and drove the truck back to Heartlands yard and turned the keys in. (i made sure to get documentation saying everything was good.. cover myself) and so i became an IA farmer working for a company that is basically in the human services. I work with people with disabilities. the location i work at is a small farm, we grow vegies, sheep and have about 800 egg laying chickens. its good work and i go home daily.. Been doing it for about 6 months now. Good news is, daughters lungs are getting better. over the last 3 months, using a new inhaller and doing breathing techniques, she's gotten better. Still not 100% but up in the 80% which is great.

Save travels to all you drivers, and good luck to all you future drivers..
