Thank you!

Will you have opportunity to do more practice before then?

Yeah, I am scheduled to do a couple of hours in the truck the day before the retest. Hopefully, that will be enough.

The news just keeps getting better. As if the wait wasn’t bad enough, I was told that Indiana is changing the backing manuevers in 2018. They are supposedly dropping the parallel and adding a 90 degree alley dock. This concerns me a bit, as I don’t know yet if I will be required to do the alley dock or if when I retest, I will be allowed to do the parallel. Hopefully, I can do the parallel because if I have to do the alley dock, I will need more time in the truck in order to learn it.

Need help down shifting

Not every truck shifts the same, but the ProStar I have been training in seems to like about 1500 rpm for the downshifts....use the quick speedometer formula that Planb gave you above.....45mph 4+5=9th, 35mph 3+5=8th, etc...shift to neutral, rev to 1500, shift to gear.

Make sure you are slowing down enough before you try to downshift. You should be below 1200 rpm.....

This is why we have a bad reputation

At the intersection a mile from my home there sits on the ground three sports drink bottles full of yellow liquid......I can guarantee you that it is not anything you would want to touch.......

I can’t fathom the type of sorry individual who would discard there pee bottles in such a manner. I can only hope that I never witness it first hand as I am likely to retrieve said bottles and return them to their users by air and opened........

DOT Physical question

That’s great news Curt! A lot of us “older” guys are on the 12 month schedule for physicals because of existing medical conditions and the meds were on to treat them. That’s not a big deal at all.....

Local job possible?

I don’t understand why you think you screwed up....because you didn’t find your dream job right out of driving school??

You have your class A license which will allow you to drive any class A or B vehicle (not passenger). So if you want a straight truck job, you can do that.

Question about medical Cpap machine for sleep apnea

I would take the safety directors advice. Wait until you get a truck, see what you need, if anything, then work out how to make that happen. Small inverters are not that expensive. They might be able to advance you some money to purchase one if you find you need it.

DOT Physical question

I would recommend that you get your DOT physical and study for the permit test using the High Road Training materials here on TT. Once you are prepared, go take your permit test and get that before you go to CDL school. This way you can be reasonably sure that your financial investment for school will not be in vain....
