Reported my first driver to their company today

I was waiting to reply here until I received a response, but it never came.

I do not like reporting people, because we all have bad moments but that was just ridiculous and nearly caused a major accident. and quite frankly I am sick of the way people drive. I've seen trucks tailgating so close it gives me anxiety and its not even me they are tailgating.

Is manual transmission still worth learning?

I believe it is, while true most companies are all auto or will be soon, there are still jobs that will require it. A year or two down the road a great opportunity may present itself and will want to be able to jump on it. At OD we have started getting automatics but most trucks are still manual, when we were hiring it was hard to find people without a restriction.

I’m so over this weather

Where’s everyone at?

Home, enjoying my 4th snow day in 2 weeks.

Tuesday and Wednesday I didn't do my full run since my meet guy was snowed in. That alone cost me around $260.

Maybe I should bill mother nature?

Getting CDL a soon, but have 2 accidents in personal vehicle

What kind of accidents? I would suggest company sponsored training over private school. Company training will mean you are approved by a company and won't have a hard time finding a job.

Reported my first driver to their company today

Sent this message how does it sound?

I have been driving a truck for 6.5 year and have never contacted a company about how unsafe one of their drivers was. Unfortunately, I feel I have to speak out about what one of your drivers did on I-65 in Indiana today while is was snowing. Around 9:40 AM Central time your driver was in the middle of 2 other trucks exiting the rest area. I had already moved to the second lane to allow all 3 trucks to have adequate room to merge. Your driver then pulled into the first lane I had just vacated and proceeded to try and pass the truck that had been exiting in front of him. Once he realized that the truck he was trying to pass now couldn't merge and was nearing the end of the ramp he made a immediate left lane change with no signal into the 2nd lane while doing approximately 30 mph. This caused the car in front of me, myself and several other cars and at least one other truck to have to slam on their brakes. One or two cars took to the shoulder to avoid a collision.

I was unable to see a unit number as I didn't get close enough, I am not sure if you locate this driver without or even car enough to try, but I felt something needed to be said. It was an extremely dangerous and nearly disastrous move.

What's your shortest work day?

I was on the clock for about 10 minutes. One of the benefits of having a 9 mile commute.

That is a short day, I have a 5 mile commute so I didn't mind having such a short day.

Told our DM we didn't get paid for 3 trailers and not the supposed rate either, and the mileage was half what it actually was

Anything we do under 100 miles is hourly, no reason other than not wanting to pay for them to pull that stunt.

Upon returning to the terminal , the joker tried that stunt again.

There is a reason they have the reputation they do.

What's your shortest work day?

Had my shorter work day today, took a trailer from my yard to another 20 miles from mine. Since we are slow that was all they had.

Was on the clock for around 2.5 hours.

What was your shortest day?

Bid time (local jobs)

Did my yearly bid again last week, no more extra board. I took my old run back which is a meet , the guy who took it from me couldn't take the daytime traffic anymore. I shouldn't be called off as this runs everyday, at worst they just cancel the meet and send me to Indy.

It's at least 554 miles everyday, could be 581 if I go through Chicago.

How was your 2023?

2023 was actually better

I'm glad to hear that!

How did you guys do?

I made about 8k less than last year in mileage pay, but had more hourly and took more vacation days.

Ended up making about 5k less than last year, which while disappointing isn't nearly as bad as I expected. Spring was rough ( I was over 10k less YTD at one point) but luckily it got better when they said it would.

Yellow Residue

I do not think OD bought any terminals from what I heard. Supposedly, some of their old equipment is starting to show up in some of our yards. I just haven't seen any of it yet.

As for their drivers they have had a hard time finding work, a lot of companies will not hire them due to them being former union employees. Plus LTL is still slow so most not a lot of hiring to go around anyway. Even some OTR companies didn't want to hire them from what I've seen.
