Parking in CA

Come on Guy's and help a Fella out, is the Best route to do I-80 to I-5 to get from Western WY to LA? Just wondering because I have read so many tails on here about the importance of Trip Planning and just wondering if I am getting a picture of routing a run or if it's best to stay on the major Interstates. Haven't been to Sin City road tripping since the mid 80"s but would think they have some kind of Loop to blow around that mess.

I think I will try a Trip Plan with absolutely no clue of how to do this, but let's just say I have traveled the Western US for fun and maybe I can help. I have driven I-80 many times but never to get to LA just Sacramento and San Fran , you are in a great position to take I-15 and dump more than 100 miles off the journey. Once you hit the LA Metroplex you are on your own but I would say you could cover way more miles then I-80 West then I-5 plus I think you avoid Donner and that would make anybody happy Summer or Winter. I'm I wrong, not even in Training yet!

Progress report and a personal thank you to Daniel B.

So I have been reading a bunch of Training Diaries just to get a bunch of different perspectives of the process. Well I came across Rob (aka Case), WOW that Dude really wanted a Trucking career and did all the heavy lifting to get to his dream. Rob started a new post about sharing his training after successfully getting his CDL and from what I can tell the last post from him the day Daniel B made the special effort to leave the terminal and take him to dinner. I have always hated reading a book or watching a movie that just ends and leaves you hanging and craving the real story. So question to Daniel B, any ideal what ever happened to Rob?

Does Backing Scare And Frustrate you? Of course! Here Are Some Stories To Help Calm The Nerves.

Just my 2c. After learning this the hard way.. Twice.

If you have a really tight spot to get into. Do NOT slide your tandems until you are lined up with the door.

That tail wiggle is your friend when things are tight.

Does moving them forward all the way help?

So now I have a question, how many times do you actually come across these super tight or difficult backing situations. 10%, 25% or 50% of the time? I am sure there are tons of buildings and lots built prior to the Sleeper Cab and just were not designed for a longer wheelbase.

Will I learn everything about every control inside a truck?

I have to do this, Sorry. This thread really does not deserve any more attention, let me explain why. I joined TT for a reason, it is a positive and informative Website to encourage a Professional approach to the Trucking Industry. Some of the posts can be a bit harsh but that's LIFE, all of the Folks here share their vast Knowledge, Experience, Pain, Loneliness, Sorrow and Triumphant stories of the Real Life of the Trucking Industry. Brett, Rainy D, Susan, Old School, G Town and so many more have shared with us the true story of the Life. This foolishness needs to end now, we get it, this Guy can not and will not ever make a career in Trucking and has no idea what it really takes to be successful in this industry. You can't demand your destiny or make plans to do it Your Way, ya'll played the game, paid your dues and moved on a few times to find the find what works for you. This thread is NEGATIVE and does nothing to promote the POSITIVE approach to the Industry that I believe inspired Brett to start this journey and website, he has done an amazing job to put together a website and team that promotes positive and reality based options to be absorbed by the masses. Of course that's MHO. I could be wrong!
