I just completed training at CDS Tractor Trailer training in Virginia. It was through the local community college and if you have lived in the state for the past year they will give you a $3K grant so all you have to find payment for is the remaining $1500. Their reputation is exceeding itself. It is an excellent school! I highly recommend them. If you don't live in VA then I would still try the local community college in your state (their workforce alliance program if they have one).

Women and Flatbed trucking
So my husband and I both got our cdl’s this summer/fall with every intention of teaming together. After both of us gave our notices from long time employers his company counter offered with higher pay so he decided to stay till we can pay off some credit cards and get a little more financially set. So to not be jobless I also withdrew my notice and continued to work but I am not happy in what I am doing now and am burnt out and looking for a change. Truck driving would be an automatic pay increase for me. We have been talking about me pursuing a driving career with a flatbed company, McElroy, after the first of the year. I am and always have been a tomboy kind of girl so I feel I can muscle though the physical requirements but It’s just scary to go out and make a life changing career move like this. I feel he will eventually come over to trucking with me but until then I would like to be getting the training part over with. Any suggestions or comments to pass on to a newbie would be greatly appreciated! Guess I am looking for some motivational verbatim from you lady truckers!
