Donna M.'s Bio

Happily Married will be 27 years in August. Have six grown children and 8 grandchild. Have driven a school bus for the past 4 years and really sick of it. I love big powerful trucks. Can’t wait to get out on the road. Have lived a life of doing for everyone else and fulfilling others demands and now I just want to challenge myself. Want to be appreciated when I decide to come home and not just cause I’m always here. Sounds selfish, however it’s time to be.

New career with a "best fit" for me.

Time at home to take care of things. That’s what a stay at home wife is for. She takes care of everything. And I mean everything. I don’t just mean most things. I mean EVERYTHING! Well except for cutting the grass and cleaning the pool. That’s a job for the lawn boy and the pool boy whom she prefers works shirtless. I wonder if she’s taking care of that on her own to. Who knows because I’m only around about as much as the post man. Oh no! I’m turning green I can’t hold it back. I must fight back the terminal rat in my subconscious.

Sorry Duck Man but she probably doesn’t want u home. Would mess up her maintance times...I mean she has “a lot” to take care of !!! LOL

8-2 split question

After 8 hours u will get back what u had left. If u used 9 hours then u will get 2 back so u could make your delivery while u are getting unloaded take your 2 hour off duty and u will get your 9 back. Does that make sense?

Dark side of trucking

Once I posted this , I thought perhaps I might be scaring some newbie away so I just what to clarify.. I’m a 56 year old woman been out solo for 5 months, not once have I ever been afraid been in some places that I made sure the doors were locked. Just as a trip to your local Walmart there are all walks of life out here. These two drivers took a stupid chance with their cdls, drinking and truck driving could cost them their jobs and careers. If u are a “very” social drinker, think twice about trucking. There just isn’t time for it outhere.

Dark side of trucking

This last week I’ve been noticing some of the dark sides of trucking. While in Indy a Werner pulls in beside me. I thought they were doing a pull thru. However pulled all the way across and started backing up. Backed into a flat bed not once but twice. He’s blowing his horn . The passenger of the Werner gets out looking over the damage. The actual driver has disappeared. I walked over, the Werner passenger now driver smells of alcohol. Look around at the flat bed driver he’s sitting in driver seat drinking beer, actual can in hand, talking about he’s on his 34. Then yesterday I’m in Gary Indiana two young women are knocking on truck doors. Alcohol and hookers think I’ll keep my curtains drawn tighter.

Question about functional external light inspection.

Do forget both the red and yellow knobs need to be in when u start brake test, so when u fan down the brakes they will pop out. Had examiner tell me this is the most “missed” thing on a brake test.

Beware the pot holes.

You should see the potholes in West Memphis AR near the love and flying J, they're doing some construction there and messed everything up, its actually worse then what it was before and the way they have everything blocked off makes it harder for trucks. I had to dodge the the holes in my car, or it would have messed my car up, sits to low to the ground as is. rofl-3.gif

Yes the potholes in West Memphis AR, are horrible. Came through last week all of sudden my truck was bouncing all over. I quickly looked out my mirror and whipped over a lane. The speed limit is 55, I was doing like 50. Scared me!

Which way do you go?

I go 65 to 865 to 465 to 70 when the construction allows.

Coming back I am in the afternoon rush hour I take 70 straight to 65 and skip 465 as there is a ton of traffic on it.

Yea that’s where I hit it on 465. Complete standstill. It was right at 17:00 and trying to get back on 65 took forever.

Trucking Takes Commitment

I think all of us rookies needed to hear this. Sometimes out here one feels they’re the only one making mistakes, and having rough days.

I passed by you twice today my run takes me from Crest Hill IL passed Indy to exit 10 on 70 in Ohio and then back again.

How do u deal with the traffic here, it’s worst than Atlanta ( perhaps I’m use to Atlanta) . Came through last week on the way to Ohio took me two hours in the traffic.

Frustrated

So I’ve had the worst week since I’ve went solo. My fleet manager is on vacation. Last weekend I’ve got a load had to wait on for two days . Get there park overnight load suppose to be ready at 9 then 12 and at 2 they say they don’t have product to finish load . So they pull me off load for a urgent Repower. There’s no paperwork for the load stinky blood running out trailer, whatever I take it to 90. So next morning get another load, it drops at 1:30 am get in early and shutdown. Stand in fm is calling me at 11:00 wants me to go get a load at 13:00 first stop 00:30 second stop 8:00 am. That’s near impossible unless I get to leave 02 quickly and drive straight to next appointment. Well didn’t work that way, 4 hour unload, I’m out of hours. So this customer is only open on weekdays. New appointment is Monday 8:00 sitting at a pilot in Indianapolis that only has subway. What a crappy week.

Reserve parking

I always use my points for parking. I’ve had this to happen a couple times but there was other spots, so I wouldn’t say anything. But no the lot was full. They acted like they couldn’t find my reservation at first, but I always screenshot mine. I was like now someone’s moving because I’m tired!

Reserve parking

Why do people park in the reserve areas and not pay? Pulled into pilot in st Louie I knew it was gonna be late so reserved a spot early that morning . Get there the lot is overflow full and no reserve. I was like no not tonight somebody is moving. They finally got the guy up and moved. Tonight I’m in Indianapolis the attendant is out here knocking on doors cause someone has somebodies spot. Dang everyone knows these big city don’t have much parking. Pay, or get here early!

Shafted again

No one ever told me about calling. One day I’m docked in Atlanta next to a female prime driver. I said I’m two hours early I’m glad they let me have a door! She said I’m a day early I’m called yesterday they were a head on loads and told me to come on in. Heck from then on I always call. Last night I had a 1:30 am appointment called the guard he said they start lining up at 11:00 if u will be here about a quarter till I’ll get u on in. Was it because I’m a woman, who cares it’s all part of trucking!
