Donna M.'s Bio

Happily Married will be 27 years in August. Have six grown children and 8 grandchild. Have driven a school bus for the past 4 years and really sick of it. I love big powerful trucks. Can’t wait to get out on the road. Have lived a life of doing for everyone else and fulfilling others demands and now I just want to challenge myself. Want to be appreciated when I decide to come home and not just cause I’m always here. Sounds selfish, however it’s time to be.

Weather today!

I knew today was gonna be rough. I got as far through Florida as possible yesterday. When I reached georgia this morning it was blown and raining. When I got to Atlanta it took 2 hours to get on bypass. A semi had took out the guard rail. Then when I got to Knoxville it was raining so hard we were doing speeds of 25. I’m suppose to be at 90 tomorrow night. I’m going to Michigan which I’ve never been to.

Orlando Florida

Yes I’m at Polk city. Everything was full and I came out here and only three trucks. I love rest areas. I’ve been down to Miami in tnt. There’s a pilot down there real different from regular pilots. It’s has a little short order area in the back. Lord those ladies cook some awesome Cuban sandwiches.

Orlando Florida

Well I guess Miami will wait till tomorrow. I’m spending the night in a rest area on 4 outside of winter haven. I got two pallets of hot pockets that didn’t belong to Walmart so I’m waiting on claims to tell me what to do with them. On the bright side it’s a beautiful rest area, watched the sun set, and talked to a older driver that has the longest gray beard I’ve ever seen. He said his kids are all grown, so he was gonna quit the road. But now he has 9 grands and it’s to noisy at home. I guess he gonna drive till they are grown, should be hitting 100 by then. Bless his heart.

APU and air conditioning

Perhaps I’m spoiled by prime and have seen or heard trucks run all night but do a lot of trucks not have apu?

Frustrated

Yesterday I had to drive thru Atlanta it was raining and wrecks everywhere blue lights and people were still driving like crazy. I slowed down, I wasn’t worried about being late. I just wanted to keep my cool and get through it safe. It worked!

Scared!

Thanks for asking I’m okay just had to run hard to make up for the lost time. When I can’t see the people in front of me on a road it’s time to get off. Sure there was others that kept driving but not me.

Frustrated

Twice last week I saw two different ladies from two different carriers have problems backing. No big deal, however they got frustrated and both dollied down and forgot to put landing gear down. Sorry but I had never seen such. An older driver showed us how to get it off her frame. So I learned something and was able to help second lady. It’s much easier to lower it before u unhook! A good example of distracted driving.

Watch your wagon... G-town

G-Town told me that when I first started out. It’s really stuck with me. Just today I was in the pilot in Shelbyville which is tiny. I was actually telling myself out loud “ watch your wagon”.

Scared!

I got flashers and park lights on. I’m gonna try to sleep. I’ve got a load to pick up in the morning and drive 578 miles by 1300 the next day.
