Diesel Supply Shortage?

I read that the governors of both South Dakota and Nebraska have declared a fuel shortage emergency. The HOS rules have been waived for those tanker drivers delivering and loading petrol (not exclusively diesel) within each state.

I guess I missed hearing about other regions shortages? Maybe our area isn't as bad off after all.

Trying to possibly get carded at Buckeye tomorrow. Hope all you tankers didn't drink the diesel dry during my one day off.

Howdy, Spaceman! It's been awhile. You mentioned a customer in VA. Are you driving fuel cross-country? Or did you relocate East?

I hope you enjoy your new gig!

Hey mannnnn! My trainer laughed at me yesterday because I involuntary waved at a Prime truck and not another tanker.

Diesel Supply Shortage?

I haul fuel out of Selma NC. We been pulling a lot of diesel to top our stores off in anticipation of shortage. So far Kinder Morgan and Marathon have still had diesel available. My second load tonight has diesel on it. Fingers crossed KM will still have it...

Your driver's sure don't wave much up here in VA! Just got diesel from BP tho today.

I found loading two loads with ( 2800 and 1k ) and shorting another customer 1k regular was the only way to get two orders without requesting too much to upset anyone .

Diesel Supply Shortage?

I think we’ve been getting it there and the KM terminal. Most of our guys aren’t carded anywhere but KM down there. As far as the heating oil goes, we load at our yard as the transport guys bring it in. The cost dipped a little bit this week but I’m sure it’s going to shoot back up again. It was already over $5 a gallon two weeks ago.

Hmm only got carded at a KM up here recently so far. Trans Montaigne had a raccoon running about the rack making it extra fun.

Diesel Supply Shortage?

The Volvo truck plant in Dublin VA is one of our customers. They can't get authorized tabs through anyone for diesel to put in their brand new trucks. Trainer says we will be trying a whole list of supply numbers at our filling racks today.

Winter should be interesting this year.

We are based in Roanoke and our drivers are having to run to Greensboro, NC to get diesel now. Other companies here in town are heading to Charleston, WV and up to Richmond for it. I haul ethanol so I really don’t have to deal with that but next week I’ll be on home delivery with the heating oil side. We have a lot of customers moving away from the heating oil now because of the cost and I don’t blame them.

I can safely assume the Trans Montaigne terminal in Greensboro is where they are getting access? I will be there Thursday but only for my second time.

We did finally get diesel today but not for Volvo. Just a few small gas stations. I'm sure I'll be on the Greensboro convoy more often soon but as posted maybe demand will decline by end of year.

Home heating oil eludes me in this company. I suppose that's lucky if demand is ebbing now.

Anyone driving through these states notice any problems getting fuel? Noticeable price increases? Another great example to start off as a company driver.

Thanks for going into the weeds on this. I just got into fuel hauling in the last few weeks. Training has been good but we still haven't moved one drop of diesel through the hoses.

Anyone ever seen a 25 speed Pete?

A 20 speed is pretty close indeed, and probably not an auto shift for that matter.

Fault code makes sense. The service light on the push button transmission hub is on as well.

Hopefully not just a PACCOR thing then. If I find anything out I'll update Monday.

Today on a gravel transfer truck. Seemed to still only use 10 gears despite the readout. Maybe a new feature?

Local burn out, missing the chicken lights & chrome

Currently watching a primate circle the block here in Vernon CA, memories.

Tony, I have only been out seven months driving OTR. Maybe I just haven't had the call return to me yet. Some of my work is rig driving, some days I drive a pick up and others a forklift in one of our warehouses. I suppose the variety could be shielding me from consistent burn out that you seem to be suffering from.

I definitely don't miss all the mountain and steep incline driving, chains and anti gel. There was some independent factor that was nice but I was suffering weight gain and all.

My gig now is strict Mon through Friday so I've been able to exercise, go to the beach and work on the house again. Those kinds of things just conquer all thoughts of OTR.

THAT BEING SAID, if I started over again for CDL training, I'd be right back at Prime in the solo flatbed division. I still count straps I see on trucks and pity the poor drivers tarping in the next lot while I wipe down my mirrors or something equally taxing.

Anne and old school, good to see familiar faces (profiles). Hope all is well. I'll post an update thread soon as to not hijack this guy's entirely.
