Parking at a truck stop, back in or nose in?
Some guys nose in to avoid listening to a refer run next to them. When you do, it makes your truck longer because you have the steer tires against the parking curb instead of having the trailer hang out the back of the spot 6 or 8 feet. Not a problem for the guy nosed in but if its a tight parking lot, the trucks next to you could have trouble clearing your trailer when they pull out of their spot.
Unless you have open space behind you to back out its gonna be tough getting out unless its the middle of the day. I personally never do it and it bugs me when somebody does it next to me if Im going to be pulling out when the lot is still full. Its tough enough moving around in a crowded truck stop with trucks parked where ever they can fit.
Nothing worse than getting up at 3am to start rolling to find you got there early to park legally only to be blocked in by somebody that had to improvise a parking spot.

I worked for Knight for about a year and a half and just recently left. They have bunk heaters that will keep the truck plenty warm and they will send you messages telling you to idle the truck if you are in an area where its cold enough the fuel could gel.
I idled the truck to stay cool in the warmer months. They will question why only if you idle the truck longer than your 10 hour break. If you were sitting waiting for a dispatch and its hot, just explain why you had to idle longer. No big deal really and they only pay attention to it for a month or so when its really hot. Im sure it costs them a fortune in fuel when you consider they may have 2500 trucks running around the clock.
They pay a fuel mileage bonus quarterly which can be a substantial amount so you will find yourself paying close attention to your idle time on your own. I would rather sleep comfortably and miss the fuel bonus one quarter but if you pay attention and only idle the truck when its necessary, you can be cool when its hot and still make the fuel mileage bonus. So... "Dont Sweat It"

Sirius satellite radio question
If you have a smartphone, you can download the SiriusXM app for free and stream your subscription on your mobile device. No need for a receiver or antenna. I just plug my phone headphone port into the truck radio auxiliary port and it works great.
One less thing to mount or remove and re-install if you switch trucks.

Chris,
Illinois won't let you transfer an out of state CDL without repeating the entire testing process. You should get an Illinois permit before you go to WI and then do all of your testing in Illinois.
I would ask the Millis recruiter about the testing process and how you test in Illinois. Im originally from Illinois and I just moved back from living in Florida for 30 years. I moved to Indiana instead of Illinois specifically because of their unreasonable CDL requirements for out of state CDL holders.

Best Bank? BOA or Well Fargo?
Its always a good idea to carry some cash. Power outage... no ATM...cable cut... no network access for credit card machines or ATMs. I dont usually have cash on me but I keep $100 bucks cash in the truck just in case.
