Understanding Personal Conveyance

The only time I understand it’s use is for an unexpected or unusual delay at a shipper or receiver to get to the nearest possible safe location.

Not sure what they define that as, but I make sure to look out for time killer places I’m going into as a precaution regardless.

For example, not into a place with 2 hours let. But having enough to your best judgement.

I had a situation I still didn’t need PC but I arrive at 1200 for open delivery until 1700. They don’t have anyone to unload until later that night.

I used PC once last year. There is supposedly a clause about traveling home from a terminal after being relieved of all duties. Seems like that’s for a very particular use case for some drivers.

I've used PC several times after my last delivery prior to hometime. Safety gave the ok as long as I logged it as relived of duty-going home. I had no idea about the safe haven being only for hazmat, oops. I've violated quite a few times and just typed in "safe haven" as a comment.

Heres my Omnitracs QC options we're allowed to use PC for.

Food at truck stops

I'll have to agree on The Tennessean truck stop in Cornersville, Tn. off I-65 exit 22. By far one of the nicest Mom & Pop stops still available. The Creek Travel Plaza off I-65 exit 54 is another good Mom & Pop stop. 1950's themed restaurant.

Is the restaurant back open? I know they had a fire there last year.

Work day cancelled

I made it through the beginning of the mess wednesday at 1am then got a load to Pennsylvania that was supposed to deliver today at a farm in the middle of nowhere. That got pulled thursday morning because that would have been impossible. So I got switched to a load going to atlanta that can drop whenever I can get there. Ended up stuck in Wisconsin until 8am today waiting on our company to lift the illinois shutdown. Coming down I57 today looked like a zombie apocalypse with all the vehicles in ditches from Champaign to Mt Vernon.

Yes, J & R Schugel out of New Ulm, MN. I went through orientation a couple weeks ago. Back driving 48 states OTR again.

Why the change sir? I was looking at some crete dedicated stuff. Any advice?

double-quotes-end.png

Well, I came off OTR to drive dedicated WM out of the Cheyenne DC for six months, then was informed I could not drive OTR for Crete any longer after I had put in the six months. I told Crete that actually I would not drive for them any longer, PERIOD.

Great company with dopey management. Even getting things in writing means nothing with them. I won't go back there a third time.

So that's a no on crete dedicated then?

3 years in and starting to look at the neighbors green grass.

“ both Schneider and rhoel and none of their stuff really interested me too much. They're terminals are perfect for me though.”

Understood. I hope you find the perfect match for you.

I did say I'm very picky.

double-quotes-start.png

Just about 3 years solo now, and am looking to get into something dedicated. Unfortunately we dont really have those where I'm at now. I love Millis but I never know what's next and I realize some people like that about this job but I've never been able to wrap my head around it. I'm based out of chicago so a terminal nearby would be nice, because I'm single and I cant really park my personal car at a gary indiana truckstop for weeks at a time. Any suggestions? I'm very picky, like I said I love millis and its gotta be the right situation. More pay which means +.61 cents roughly same hometime, 3 weeks out 4 days off. Any ideas?

Have you looked into J&R Schugel, where PackRat just graduated to?

Also; here in Ohio, Garner Transportation would have lanes you are looking for.

Lastly, have you thought about 'daycabbing?' FAB Express is all around you; numerous yards. Tom's been there almost 6 years. Don's been there over two, I believe.

Just my 2cents, for now; best wishes & following!

~ Anne ~

I'm not sure about home daily, I'll check out FAB, havent heard of them.

Hopefully packrat can give me some info on JR shugel and crete.

3 years in and starting to look at the neighbors green grass.

Glad you made it, it is pretty ugly down here right now.

Tomorrow in Indiana is looking bad too, bunch of snow and ice.

Where I do my meet is supposed to get a half inch of ice and another 2 inches of sleet.

I'm taking a load to newburg PA that's due friday. Not sure how I'm supposed to get there by then. Its right in the ice band and its winding backroads to a farm delivering calf formula.... should be interesting.
