Buuurrrrr, It's Cold Up Here!

I had one stop in Pella,IA and one in Wasau, WI for today. Man, I don't know how you folks do it up here. Get me back to Texas - I wasn't made for this kind of weather!

Old School, I hear ya'.
We've been in Prairie du Sac, WI; visiting our granddaughter...talk about timing. Stayed 3 nights. Last 2 getting up every 3-4 hours to start the car and keep the battery alive.
-33 degrees when we left this morning (Thursday 0400). Back to Nashville at 1500...+43 F...balmy.
This old Mississippi boy didn't appreciate that cold.
Stay warm and safe out there.

Help your fellow driver

I look for my supply of bungee cords to help him secure it from flopping in the wind, can't find the things in this disorganized mess of a non-storage truck of mine, but I did find a cheap dollar store extension cord I let students use to be able to charge their phones or laptops in the upper bunk.

Love that, Susan.
My favorite: "Duck" tape, baling wire and Vice Grips...a redneck never leaves home without some in the toobox....
So refreshing to read stories of helping, instead of heckling...well, heckling is fun to...as long as nobody gets hurt...smile.gif

So this happened

What ya want to know brother? There is a lot to know and being that I haven't even started on my own, I've only just begun to scratch the surface.

Anything you want to throw in here. smile.gif
Loading/unloading, how to you place the vehicles for multiple stops/pick-ups, etc.
I see the haulers going down the road and wonder those things all the time.
Learning so much on Trucking Truth...the more the merrier.thank-you.gif

So this happened

Dude it's amazing. I was seriously questioning my decision to haul cars the first week but my second week has put my mind at ease. We have a great trainer who has been hauling cars for over 30 years and he is a great teacher. Once he broke it down to its simplest form, I immediately started to understand just how it works.

JuiceBox,
Post up some more info when you can. Always been interested in how the car haulers did all the stuff that's involved.
Glad you're enjoying the work. Bill R

Help your fellow driver

Turtle,
Great use for an old trick...I stopped smoking years ago....gotta remember to keep a lighter handy, like Rainy said.
Extra good to help a person out. We're all to quick to "look the other way" when we see someone who needs help.
You and Mrs. Turtle stay safe in this weather.

Got To Get A Sleep Study Done

Thread hijack....

When i was 18 i saw a video of how they did the surgery and said oh helllllll no.

Honestly, i dont have headahces or back aches or anything. I probably will later in life though.

In one of my previous existenses in my nursing career....I did insurance reviews for a major company. One day, I received a package from a physicians office...labeled "Photos, do not bend". Opened it up, cover letter said this was a request to cover a surgical procedure and supporting documentation and photos were included....

Plopped out the photos and immediately went into "Oh my goodness" mode...shocked.png

Turns out when you want to have a breast reduction, you have to send in "before" photos to demonstrate the problems...I think I made a couple of gasps and said a few choice words....

Now, understand I'm working with a bunch of women and my face was red as a brick....they didn't let me live that one down for several days....

Back to the original topic:
In the gym working on losing extra pounds now. Already feeling some better. Hoping I don't have to do the CPAP thingy.
Thanks for the giggles.

Unlaminate an SS card

Good one Michael S.!

I lost a wallet when about 17. Replaced the SS card and put clear packaging tape over it. It's the only reason I still have it some 40+ years later.

Mine was a fishing "accident" around the same time...fell out of a canoe while floating a local river when the kids were little...we were going under a low tree limb and they scooted over to one side to duck under the twigs...
rofl-2.gif
wallet drenched, I managed to dry out the card and thought "hey, packing tape will keep this all together"...anyways, I'll be heading to the local SS office and get a new one.

Question on load and hometime

Excellent question and responses. This has been on my list to check out.
My grandkids are in different cities and I was wondering if it would work to catch a 34hr reset for a visit.
If possible, grab a load going near their homes and pay a visit.

Why I continue to frequent this site (aside from the wealth of information)...

Yup, fully agree. Those 2 items are the biggest reasons I joined up and continue to read and learn.
Thanks to all the moderators and experienced members who set it straight for us who are just starting out.
