Western Express L/O advice please

I will not bad mouth the lease program. If you read more into this site is geared more towards people starting and helping them out. Not a great amount of positive info on lease to own programs. From my background in farming lease programs are OK if you can find tax advantages but as far as buying your own truck I would save up and pay cash for a good used and have enough left in the bank for an overhaul to be safe. I believe an in-frame is getting into the $30-$40,000 range anymore.

Steering wheel pull.

You should have taken it back right away if the steering wheel was not straight. You can still take it back and should soon.

About trucking apps like DAT & DOFT

This will not be the right sight for that. I do know that until the load is accepted and in writing it can go to someone else at the drop of a hat. I an sure each service will have instructions on contacting or setting up and accepting loads. You should, if really interested in doing this, have already subscribed to some of these places to get an idea how they work and what kind of money is out there.

13’6” clearance!!!

If bridge height is close I sure like to meet or follow a truck that went under ahead of me. If I am on my own and not positive I will slow down and check from the side of the road. The signs are not always correct as the road could be resurfaced or watch for snow buildup in the winter.

My #1 Concern starting career in trucking

I had lots of truck driving experience from farming for 30 years but none of the OTR or trucking business experience. I personally would not have started if I had to ride with someone else for any length of time. I rode a half day with a trainer and drove the second half of the day then followed him South the second day. From that point on I was on my own as far as in the truck but a phone call away from help or advice. I know that is not the way almost any others have started and if I had not been around and drove and worked on trucks all my life it would not have worked for me either, but it worked very well for me.

Busy day

For my own curiosity what do you not like about the push in air lines. In agriculture we use a lot more air to run parts on equipment than a truck does and never see a compression type fitting anymore. The sharkbite type push pull connectors are so much easier to work on and I have never seen them fail.

Worker’s compensation?

It will depend on the company, the injury and your work history. Most companies will not want to lose a good employee over being injured at work unless they were seriously at fault, and most good companies would not mind getting rid of a poor worker.

Birth Certificate and Passport Processing delay woes during Covid. :(

While it is a pain 700 miles if needed to start you on the career you want is not a big deal. It is a 2 day trip. Also is there a way to call and have it done without being in person.
